Why was 2012 supposed to be "our year" again?

Looking back over some threads from the past, this idea seemed to have some traction among the faithful. For those who believed it, why did you believe?

Did everyone honestly think that JJ/Lee were this team's only limiting factors? Did people honestly believe that just about any QB would be a significant improvement over two (admittedly bad) seniors.

Seeing our final ranking behind 5 other SEC teams juxtaposed against the mighty midget bringing another one to Bama has me a little bummed--though I swore I was done letting a game affect my mood.

Defense was supposed to be stacked again and offense with a new QB to look forward was supposed to be good enough for a run.

And it certainly could have been without injuries and suspensions

I don't think people were anticipating a mass exodus to the NFL this year. If Logan, Ware, Ford, Minter and Simon would have stayed, we'd be legit next year for sure.

Just remember our Heisman candidate Corner Back didn't play and virtually our entire Offensive line went down at least at some point this year. Factor in Minter getting hurt at the wrong time in the Florida game....... I mean technically we lost by less points all this season then we did all of last season.

I was speaking of this year (2012)--all the bubbas leaving should (I guess) have been able to contribute to a better year. But I don't think many of them are anything special to be honest.

Our best player got hurt in the Florida game when it mattered

We lost our previous best player before the season started

How many offensive line formations did we shuffle around during the season due to multiple injuries?

Our starting RB got hurt

I hate LSU's fan base

We thought we would have TM7 and a stacked O Line led by Chris Faulk. What we didn't know was we would lose TM7 for the season and then have to start freshman on the O Line. By the time they figured it out, too late.

Lots of blowouts in 2011. Didn't try to develop Mett in those blowouts. Anyone thinking 2012 was our year was lying to themselves.

We blew the lead, with a minute to go.. against the team youre master-baiting to right now

We also rolled out a brand new offensive line against the best D-line in the country and lost by a TD

Quit being a whiny bitch

I'll give you Logan and Minter, but the other 3?...Simon was average in coverage at best and Ware/Ford were hampered by being in personnel packages that identified what plays we run...talents, but never got the chance to breakout

This is the type of answer I was looking for. I only asked because I honestly didn't see it. 2011 was a surprise, but when things clicked it sort of all made sense. I didn't think we could replicate that effort this year--even before Tyrann got the boot. I was a little perplexed by the optimism.

Are you actually questioning the vast football knowledge and awesome football analytical skills of Rant posters, most of whom have never worn a jockstrap or put on a football helmet?!?

I'm shocked, shocked, I tell you!!

This team was expectedto be that good because they were last year, and everyone thought Mett was the missing piece. No one expected to lose Mathieu and Faulk

Oh, it had an effect

But with our full team, or atleast 90% of it.. things could be completely different right now

You still have to develop that piece! This coaching staff has proven again and again that developing qbs is not part of their system.
