I was thinking a 2" lift and 28" tires.

When you say ball do you mean trailer hitch ball?

Power steering really worth it? Never had a problem with my buddy's 4 wheeler that doesn't have power steering, but never rode one with it. Thanks for the suggestions.

420 + 2" lift + bigger tires = potential to break a rear U joint and and bend the output shaft. As long as you don't put it in too big of a bind you should be ok though.

For that kind of stuff (read as: not trying to tear your shite up) I'd recommend factory sized ITP mudlites, a winch of your choosing, and that's about it. It'll go through everything you need and then some without destroying your bike. It's pretty miserable to ride around on a bike that has 28" outlaws when you don't want to be covered in mud. Nothing pisses me off like going to the stand and getting hosed with mud just going down moist trails.

This is all I've done, I don't have a need for anything else.

ETA: I don't use my ATV for this

Will the 420 fit in back of an F-150 standard bed with tailgate up?

It should, I have an 08 420, and it fit in the back of my Silverado 1500 step side, if you have a tool box though it will not. Since I put the tool box in, I bought the LA Guard Dog, mounts to the trailer hitch of the truck and the ball of the wheeler, and it works great. Takes about as much time as using straps, but way stronger.
I run the ITP mudlites, they are a great tire.
The 420's are so nimble, you will love it. But it you put the lift on you will take some of that away. Buddy has the same bike I have with a lift, and I def prefer mine without. Guess it just depends on what you like though.

stick stoppers are a must. 589 tires are good but I had some Gator mud grips that I really liked. Extended racks are handy and I wouldn't worry to much with a winch. Ranchers are light enough you should be able to rock it on most occasions and get out.

I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm not a huge fan of stick stoppers. They collect crap too well.

Don't have them on my 20 year old bike and I'm still on the factory boots. And I beat the shite outta that bike

I'll probably get the Rancher 420AT. Is Power steering worth the extra $500?

We use to ride 20 deep on ranchers in the swamp and never failed whoever didn't have stoppers busted a boot. For the price they are a great preventive accessory
