Im sure he beasted out in practice between the tackles and that's why they never used him that way in the game

our worst "between the tackles" runner in games last year was ware and he got to do that a bunch

if jamaal charles and chris johnson can overcome their mental disabilities to become NFL RBs, then ford can

Both of those guys touched the ball A LOT more at Texas and ECU than Ford ever did at LSU.

So once again, I guess you guys think Ford was a beast in practice between the tackles yet he couldn't do it in games.

Sorry, but once again, some guys are just not that kind of back, despite measurables.

After the combine, he will be on everyone's board. I say 3rd-4th round.

agreed. He will be drafted on potential more than anything, and that *should* set him up to shine at the combine.

Potential first round RB talent in mid-late rounds? If Im a NFL GM and need RB depth... youbetcha.

i think it's quite possible, especially if he goes to a zone-blocking team and can 1-cut based on physical ability, he seems to fit that mold very well

A fair point, actually.

I wonder what Houston's roster is looking like at RB.

Seems that would be an optimal situation.

Anybody know if Leesville has any LSU worthy prospects coming up through the ranks?

i'm just addressing the point that he wasn't football smart. charles/johnson aren't football smart either (and are irl retarded)

they touched the ball b/c they were used in systems made for speed guys and with coaches who liked to use speed guys

ford was in a system made for power guys with a coach who liked power guys. shite happens

ford never lived up to the hype but he wasn't a fit at LSU, like shep. i'm curious to see what happens with mcgee (who also isn't a fit and was moved out to WR)

no

i think our coaching staff assigns roles to RBs

actually, does anybody think our coaching staff DOESN'T assign specific roles to RBs?

Certain RBs, but they've let Hill play all those roles at times throughout the season.

Why do think they do that in Ford's case? Being the outside runner. Do you think they do it because they want to take away his great ability of vision and absorbing contact between the tackles while making people miss with his good moves? Oh wait...

Dang my favorite player. Another one totally unused correctly.

How? This argument is becoming cliche' now. Just becasue a guy comes in and doesn't blow away all cometition doesn't mean he isn't used correctly. He was our leading rusher last year, has been playing for 3 years, and had his coaching staff realize and showcase him on KORs, which will help his draft stock. How the hell did LSU unuse Ford? He and the other backs lost their starting spot to a more productive Blue and then Hill. Again, I ask the question, how was he unused when he was a regular RB for us over the last 2 years?

Hill, Blue, Ware and to an extent Hilliard get called on to do anything. Ford was the only RB who had a specific role that he only did. Dont know where SFP is coming from.

no he's fast and that means that's his role

same shite happened with keiland back in the day, even though he showed in 2006 that he could run between the tackles

His combine alone will get him drafted. He's strong as an ox and very fast.

He won't have much of a future in the NFL.

He's a 3rd down back at best. Who can't pass protect.

He'll go undrafted.

But good luck anyway!

I agree. 1 tool back.
