I've read so much garbage here about how having underclassmen declare for the draft is a bad thing. It is only bad for the fans who want to keep the players on the field for our team. What this situation really reflects is that LSU recruits top quality talent and prepares them to play professional football, if that is something they want to do. The fact that we have so many underclassmen declaring also suggests that professional talent evaluators notice our players and assign them a higher likelihood of having success on the next level. This is a compliment to our program and coaches.

This is a very positive thing for recruiting. Potential recruits see our players getting a lot of attention from the NFL. The movement of players to the NFL also increases the chance that a top recruit will play earlier in his college career at LSU.

Cut out the doom and gloom crap. From the perspective of the players and potential recruits, this situation is nothing but positive.

I agree, I am excited to see what these young guys can do. I am actually optimistic about next season too. Not that i think we win a title but just having some frsh faces is kinda nice.

Good for recruiting and honestly as much as it sucks to lose so much talent, it will be good for our team down the line. Everyone we lost this year had made up their mind before the season even started. Tharold Simon for example was mentally checked out almost the whole season. The other guys gave it a great effort but after the Bama loss you could tell some had one foot out the door. Time for younger, hungrier players to get their reps.

Regardless of how you feel about the underclassmen leaving there is one thing that is certain. Anyone starting a thread because someone lost their red shirt over a few plays just needs to STFU.

For the current recruiting class it is positive. What if we drop 4 games next year and recruits start thinking that we arent what we were while Bama continues to win titles with new players? It sure will make it harder to get those guys on campus. Just playing devils advocate here honestly.

Its great that they came to LSU and got their degress or made the decision to move on to bigger and better things but we all selfishly want to them to stay and make our school the best it can possibly be. Selfish? Maybe, but thats college football.

Early playing time isn't a selling point for recruits?

So by your thoughts we had the most talented team of all of football and still lost 3 games? No other team has this many JRs getting out

Bull. They are leaving because Miles is a blowhard a-hole who will eventually ruin their futures. THE SHIP IS SINKING

logical

Players drafted high can certainly help with recruiting....to what extent is debatable (but it can't hurt).
This year, not so much simply b/c it's pretty much over. The number of players declaring early will not affect the decision of the remaining HS recruits left on the board.

Also, anyone who thinks that these players leaving early will somehow help LSU on the field in 2013 is simply delusional.
That is what most people are concerned about.

This is overrated for top of the line recruits IMO. That is why mostly the same teams are at the top each year.
And you recruit for need, so this pretty much takes care of itself anyway.

Link?

I think you underestimate the desire for young studs to want a better chance at playing time early...thus giving them the same chance of leaving early for the NFL.

Why would early entries that get drafted below ~3/4 round down to undrafted FA be a positive on the program to recruits (other than early playing time which is a different conversation)?
Just curious what some think.

Numerous early entry 1st rounders speaks for itself.

i don't see how it could. the draft is after NSD also

but, hypothetically, what's the selling point of a bunch of guys leaving early and going in the 5th or later? how will that sway recruits?

now 4 guys going in the 1st round? THAT will make kids pay attention

the 2 really don't have any meaning

we have guys leaving who didn't get much PT this year, like ford.
