re: Not greatest movie.....greatest movie 'scene' of all time!

Here are some of my favorites from some the most iconic movies ever made:

The Godfather I - Obviously, many great scenes but my favorite is one is when Sollozzo meets with Don Corleone to ask him to go into the drug business. "Drugs, thats a dirty business."

Raging Bull - Robert Deniro, an aged Jake La Motta, struggles with prison guards before being thrown into his cell. He then starts pounding his head on the wall and punching the crap out of it screaming "Why? Why? Why?"

Raging Bull - The closing scene is another one of my favorites. Aged La Motta talking to himself in the mirror about how his brother could have looked out for him better. He brings up the "I coulda been a contenda" scene from "On the Waterfront" where ex boxer (just like La Matta) Terry Meloy confronts his brother Charlie (another scene that belongs on this list)

Mean Streets - Harvey Keitel "drunk shot" scene with him walking across the bar with the song "Rubber Biscuit" from The Chips playing.

Resevoir Dogs - We all love the ear scene. Michael Madsen dancing to Bob Dylan. Good stuff.

Pulp Fiction - Samuel L. Jackson..."SAY WHAT AGAIN!!"

Great scene.

Blue Velvet - Kyle Maclachlan hiding in the closet looking through the door at Dennis Hopper getting high on nitrous and acting out some twisted mommy fantasy on Isabella Rossellini.

Apocalypse Now - Slowly approaching Colonel Kurtz village on their boat, Capt Willard (Martin Sheen) thinks to himself "Part of me was afraid of what I would find and what I would do when I got there. I knew the risks, or imagined I knew. But the thing I felt the most, much stronger than fear, was the desire to confront him." Haunting scene.

Apocalypse Now - After Willard brutally kills Kurtz, he walks out to all the villagers staring at him full of blood. He grabs his friend and leaves, all of which the villagers allowed.

A Clockwork Orange - Scene where Alex is strapped to the chair, his eyes held open and the white coat is applying eyedrops, while he pleads with the scientist stop the video and to not play Ludwig over the speakers. I also love the scene where one of the gang members holds down the old man while Alex his cutting holes into her shirt where her breasts are...crazy scene.

The Searchers - Ethan arriving and leaving in both the opening and closing scenes are absolute poetry on film.

Dr Strangelove - So many priceless moments in this movie. Sterling Hayden leaning back in his chair, smoking a cigar and explaining to Mandrake (one of Peter Sellers 3 characters) that politicians have neither "the time, the training, nor the inclination for strategic thought...I can no longer sit back and allow...the international communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids.

Vertigo - James Stewart, struggling with his fear of heights, drags Kim Kovak up a staircase ( the same staircase he had chased her up before) after finding out that he had been played the whole time.

Psycho - Of course there is the famous shower scene. I also love the scene right after where Norman Bates, looking suprised, discovers the dead body and cleans up after his "mother".

Strangers on a Train - Police officer carelessly fires his weapon into the carousel killing the conductor and ride spins out of control. Crazy old man crawls under the ride (this was real, not a stunt) and pulls the lever...all hell breaks loose.

Dial M for Murder - Grace Kelly struggles with the man her husband hired to kill her before stabbing him the back with a pair of scissors. He falls to the ground landing on his back, pushing the scissors in even more.

I left so many out, but these are a few that stuck with me from the films that stuck with me. All great scenes from Coppola, Kubrick, Scorsese, Ford, Lynch, Tarantino, and of course Hitchcock. Great scenes come from great directors.
