This post will probably get whacked because the mods don't like to allow free debate, but does anyone feel that the Mathieu events have something to do with virtually EVERYONE eligible to declare doing so? Mathieu, on the verge of a high draft pick and millions got it all yanked away. Yes, it was all his fault, but if you were in a draft eligible player's shoes and felt you could make it in the NFL, would you risk it? And if the rumors about the Aleva-Miles rift are true, thanks alot W.C. Aleva.

IMHO, I think the majority of guys are defensive players and might be tired of carrying the entire team for the past 2 years and want to save some gas in the tank for the NFL. Just a thought.

Various rumours have been floating around that Aleva made the call on the Honey Badger suspension, possibly to show Miles who was boss.

smoking weed??? TM7 could have projected getting drafted in earlier rounds if he hadn't done it. So,whoever thinks they can smoke weed and will get drafted is stupid.

If that were true, then why would Alleva extend the guy's contract? and why would Les agree to it?

if what you're saying is true, then wouldn't an alpha male display of dominance get in the way of things like contract negotiations?

This is not a really sound train of thought. Anyone who plays defense @ LSU would actually be thankful because they get extra coverage/buzz from playing on that defense and getting to "carry" the team, which, it should be noted, they failed to do for the last 5 games of this season.

Not if the Alpha Male dominance was Les Miles telling the Board sign me to a new contract or I am heading to R-Kansas. The shite's chess, not checkers, bro.

Makes sense.

I'm just asking objective questions. Curious to know if this is true.

I don't know man. Defensive players get fricking pissed when they feel like they're doing all the work and not getting any help.

Granted, that's the flow of emotions during a game. I guess after it happened enough times, they could have thought enough was enough.

The more you've got to be on the field as a defense, the more tired you get, the less push you get at the line of scrimmage, the more susceptible to injury you are, and the worse you look as a unit.

With draft stock as a motivation, I think all those factors played a part in their decisions.
