Shaub has thrown several bad balls today, and I get so sick of color analysts throwing this old turkey out there.

This annoy anyone else?

You mean if you have the athleticism to somehow get your hands on an uncatchable ball, it's your fault if you don't miraculously bring it in?

When we charted out QB/WR at SMS in px if they got a hand on it, we counted it as a drop. When breaking film down in games same thing

We gave out daily Comp Att drop comp% drop% sheets to QB and coaches

The WR TE RB got catch drop with catch%

I would normally agree with you except you are forgetting one thing....if it hits you in the hands, you should catch it.

Well Andre Johnson should've caught that TD, Gresham shouldn't have caught that 3rd down

It should be "If hits you in the hands and it wasn't deflected, you should catch it."

It's not really a cliche, it's the truth
absolutely not.

If your hands are stretched to the max and the ball barely tips the end of your fingertips, there is zero chance of catching the ball

The OP is spot on, the cliche is laughable, and fans blindly go along with it, like most clichés.

I think there are some instances where they criticize players unfairly based on that mindset. If a receiver is sitting in a soft spot in a zone in the middle of the field and the ball hits him in the hands, he should catch it every single time. If the QB slightly overthrows a deep ball and a receiver completely lays out trying to catch it and it slips through his fingers, it isn't fair to call that a drop.

Yes. If it's a bad throw and it barely hits your fingertips, then it's on the QB. But if the ball hits your square in the hands, regardless of your position, you should catch it.

No what was harsh was how we tracked the incompletions

There were overthrow underthrow throw away misread and drop

If over 30% weren't drops our QB had to run gassers
