That was an interesting segment that showed a lot about la masia and what the team means the Catalonia. I was surprised they didn't interview Ben Lederman though. Only American there ever you'd think he'd at least get mentioned.

Good segment but they absolutely should have interviewed Ben Lederman.

What's the likelihood he plays for Spain since he lives there now and will in the foreseeable future? I say pretty high.

How is Espanyol viewed by Catalan nationalists?

Espanyol inherently represents the Spanish unionists in Barcelona. Afterall the club's name is "Royal Spanish Sport Club." However, there are still many Catalan nationalist fans who opt to support Espanyol as a manner of tradition or choice.

He's not going to play for Spain.

I hope he does not but being in Spain for that long and playing with that many Spanish kids he won't really have a strong tie to the U.S. This is assuming he would be good enough to play for Spain. Who knows who else and how good they will be at that point.

That's a ways down the road though, I'm also not even sure he meets the criteria to play for Spain I've just heard that it is a possibility.

Bro. Messi still plays for Argentina. I just wonder if he will pan out. What a joke that they didn't interview him though... The preview gave me as much information as the actual segment...

It was a pretty cool segment. It was clearly geared towards casual soccer fans. Not really a complaint, I just wish it would have been a little more in-depth.

I thought the names on the lockers was really cool.

Yeah the Messi thing is true but Argentina is good so he really wouldn't have a reason to switch. I'm just paranoid when it comes to good players with dual citizenship ever since Judas.

Notice that Espanyol is spelled in Catalan, and not, in fact, Español.

I think they used the Spanish spelling until 1995. Perhaps, they were trying to market themselves to the nationalist market.
