I've decided to stop blaming CLM

Yeah maybe a pass on 2nd and 2 when you have our stable of running backs is a questionable call, but guess what... The coaches called a pass so how about Mett just make a good fricking throw and Landry just fricking catch the ball. You can blame Miles all day but the bottom line is the players have to execute. /rant

Landry had no shot to catch that ball

you need to decide to get over it

kind of frustrating when you don't let a guy who rushed for over a hundred yards on a few carries not touch the ball at all in the 4th qt. seems like an ideal time to feed him.

Yea Landry definantly had no shot at catching the ball. So that means Mett should have made a better throw to a WIDE open reciever with no pressure in his face.
The play calling is very suspect but I tell you if we get a lil better execution it owuld look alot different.

Obviously the blame for that falls more on Mett than Jarvis, but regardless, EXECUTE the play call

While I don't necessarily disagree with this, I think if they had called a run and been stopped, most would be here complaining that they didn't call a pass.

That is correct, I think having so many good backs hurts in that situation. The coaches probably try to get one back some yardage and touches then change it up. Which usually seems to hurt more than help. Sometimes you need to stay with the hot hand but then again these coaches like to get these guys playing time. That is part of the reason we get so many goodbacks, they know they won't have to sit the bench and wait to see the field.

Did you decide to do this after talking to your psychologist? Who gives a shite? Our offense sucks, period.

The more I think about it, the more I agree with the pass call. It's 2nd and 2 with everyone in the world, including Clemson D, thinking run. Perfect opportunity to call a pass. And what do you know? We have a wide open receiver, but that doesn't matter because our qb can't make a simple pass

Ya think?

I agree Mett should have completed that pass, he was wide open, there's no reason why he couldn't have completed it. That being said, it was just stupid for the coaches to abandon the run on short yardage, refusing to give the ball to Hill, who was average over 10 yards a carry. All we needed to do was run out the clock, instead Clemson didn't even burn a timeout. This is one of the poorest coaching decisions that I have ever seen.

Yep your right. If he would have ran on 2nd and 3rd and not made it we would have people screaming that Miles doesn't trust his QB. Well he trusted him and with a wide open man and no one in his face he blew it. Bad call or not the play was there for a first and maybe more but the QB just couldn't handle it.

Unfortunately, the offense blew for the 3-plus quarters prior to that call and for the majority of this season, the national championship game, the first half of the SEC Championship Game last year, and in many other instances.

You know why that play was wide open? Because every other team in America is running the ball in that situation.

I don;t think we picked up very much short yardage all night. I remember all the short yardage being stuffed for a loss.

It wasn't predictable at least. Everyone can moan and bitch about it all you want, but it was a great call and perfect for the situation if the throw is made to the WIDE open reciever

What is the fun in that?

And that play is just the perfect example because everyone remembers it but it goes for many of CLMs play calls. It all comes down to execution. Bottom line

This I agree with, but you have to remember that Mett wasn't having a very good game in the first place. He was being hit a lot and was probably afraid of more hits.. and the D thought we were going to run, so there was a lot of defenders right there. Easy to throw an incomplete pass in those circumstances. Regardless, I still agree with the 2nd & 2 playcall......
...But what about the 3rd & 2? At that point I think it would have made more sense to run it. Or if we were going to pass, send 4 guys wide and actually give Mett options.
No matter what, I am inclined to believe that 3 gives to Hill would have resulted in us winning, first down or not. JMHO.
