While I think it's true that given our offensive woes we're unlikely to produce any player that puts up gaudy enough stats to warrant consideration, let's not pretend LSU had been churning our Heisman hopefuls only to be squashed once Miles got here. That just isn't so.

I know. I'm just saying that with Miles and his vanilla playbook philosophy, whichever Heisman hopeful we churn out will remain just that and nothing more IMO

You can't have a Heisman running back when you use 3 or more RB. At times I think our depth at RB hurts us, because we worry more about dispersing carries not giving the ball to the hot hand.

Agree

For as much as in the past LSU couldn't get a ridiculously skilled LBer or QB, we sure have loaded up at running back

Except that Russell put up really good passing numbers in 2006, and would have likely done similar in 2007...would he have been in the conversation? It's likely...and Miles was at the helm. That's not in any way a defense of the horror that LSU's offense has become now.

If you put a gun to my head and asked me why we're going through this now, I'd say it's a result of 2008. Before then Miles' offense was not some shite show. We did throw the ball...we didn't just pound it into 9 and 10 man fronts. He seemed to allow his OC's to do their jobs and call plays that had a semblance of sense to them. After 2008, it became clear that he made a decision that he'd never again lose a ball game because he allowed a QB to throw it away. It became all about ball control...safe as can be and let the defense do the heavy lifting. We've seen the end result now for 2 years in a row.

But this wasn't ALWAYS what Miles did. It wasn't what he did at OK St. and it wasn't what he did when he first got here. It's what he's evolved into. Hopefully he gets past that fear he picked up in 2008 and returns to the old Miles.

It's really hard to win a Heisman in three and out ville.

He let crowton call some extremely risky plays for a redshirt freshman in 08

Les will be scarred from that year forever it seems

We will still have too many backs next year. We spread the ball around too much.

LSU will have less backs next year then they did this year and over the final 7 games Hill averaged more than 18 carries per game with 10 tds. If he continues to run like he has been then there is no reason he can't be hyped for Heisman talk.

Be better for Hill and LSU if doesn't get that high a profile. The stories of his having sat out a yea after high school will not go over nicely.

Agreed.

Though his Heisman campaign better get used to 12-15 carries a game, especially if he gets to a 100 years in 5-6 carries.

In fact, if I were him I'd say away from 'big' runs, you know more than 10 yards. He should just fall down/flop or fake injury after getting the first down, because if he gets too many, he won't touch the ball again for another quarter or two.

This way he could consistently touch the ball a grand total of 17 times. That should do it, Heisman all the way.

He will need to touch the ball more than 12 times per game and he will need to get carries in the 4th quarter when the game is on the line.

Other than, yea. He should be in the hunt.

He can really establish himself as the go-to guy with a strong Spring/Summer, similar to Ridley in 2010. Our last two "hot" backs to end the year have been outworked by other guys, so hopefully he stays motivated.

He will get arrested again for sexual battery before he wins the Heisman with the way they spread the carries.

U are right my man . He is special reminds of Cecil the Diesel a little. We are going to have Blue and Hill WOW. we gotta give these boys a nickname.

Give the ball to 33 20 times and throw deep 3-5 times a game. Learn how to really sell a fake handoff and we will be dangerous.
PS We get Faulk back too.
Faulk Collins Porter Turner Alexander Stokes
Copeland

If we cant run the ball next yr then i give up.
