How will Hill be draft eligible? He never went to any school the year he sat out. He didn't redshirt either. This isn't college baseball where you get eligible based on age instead of years in college. Hill has only be in college one year. He has to stay until his Junior year unless he redshirted or went to JUCO, which he didn't.

YOu must be removed from high school for 3 years. After next year he will be draft eligible.

hes been in college for 3 years at that point, thats all that matters so he will be draft eligible

I never heard that rule for football. I thought you had to stay 3 years of college no matter your age.

Ah, ok. Didn't know that. NVM then.

Big mistake by LSU not to recruit a RB this year. We'll likely be breaking in true freshman as starters after next year regardless.

he got in trouble in high school and lsu told him to hold off a year and be a redshirt freshman basically in 2012 because his legal matters werent resolved in time for the 2011 season

It is all about how many years they are removed from high school, not age or yrs in college.

Hilliard might be our only back after next year and he might even get pissed and leave early. His production went way down this year. Hilliard also has literally no lateral movement at all. He's 100% pure North/South and I can't imagine his stock will soar staying a senior year. He'll likely hit his ceiling of draft potential next year.

Hill will be gone next year if he has this kind of production next year.

We'll recruit at least 3 RBs next year although we probably should get about 4. Already lost 1 this year with nobody to replace them in the recruiting class.

I know he's great but it's stupid to lay all your eggs in the basket for a future recruit. It's also dumber considering you can't 100% for sure say if he'll see the field and progress like he's expected. Not to mention injuries or potential off the field issues. I'm not a fan of ever recruiting based on the future. You get burned like that. He might not even come here. We should've took at least one RB this year. After next year it might all be true freshman and we MIGHT land Fournette.

I guess Miles hasn't learned his lesson with the oline/QB recruiting mistakes.

its not all for him...we have 3 others with serious interest that are top 100 players and will all get PT as freshman

Still, I don't like pushing true freshman into significant PT roles like that. We should have someone developed ahead of them as insurance. I know RB is an easy transitional...still. It's playing with fire, IMO.

Rumors are Magee might be transferring too, so that's another potential RB down. You would only have Hilliard here if Hill performs as expected next year.
