What do you guys think about this quote:

"I was committed to LSU, but I ended up decommitting," he said. "I transferred schools, so I kind of lost connection and we didn't talk as much. It was small things like that. I hadn't heard from them so there was nothing going on. I am keeping that door open, though."

Do the coaches get complacent after getting a verbal or is it more because this kids NSD is so far away. It just seems like calling a verbal commit once or twice a week wouldn't be that hard to do. Does the NCAA even allow the coaches to contact kids that much?

Yeah, that's what happened. They figured a kid that dropped by on a whim and committed on his first visit was a surefire lock and figured they didn't need to keep in contact with him.

It had nothing to do with him getting a new phone and not reaching out to LSU with his new contact info.

I think it's a little of both, plus we were in a big 2013 recruiting time when he decommitted. Once February comes, we will heat the 2014 recruiting back up. Most all coaches do it. If you look too much ahead into the future, you can get burned in the present

And this as well. Kind of throws us under the bus with that quote when it was his issue

Look at the recruiting class we are putting together. If a couple quotes from some 17 year old kid puts question marks your head about our staffs ability to recruit, idk what to tell you.

Don't believe everything that a 17 year old says.

I put this one on the coaching staff. It is their responsibility to stay in contact not the recruits. There really is no excuse.

So Miles needs to either work at every cellphone company or become a hacker to tap into number databases. Completely on him.

Hell, I've got a 20-year old, and I have a hard time believing what comes out of his mouth sometimes.

Not for players in his class yet. The staff can initiate their first call with him in April/May and they are allowed one call. Then they can begin calling in September at the start of his senior year.

Until those points, calls have to be initiated by the player.

Much less getting in touch with him at times and he has had the same phone number for 5 years.

he just wants the coaches lapping at his balls 24/7. no different than every other big time recruit. the staff isn't going to dedicate as much time to a junior as it will to trying to get kids for this class right now.

So the staff doesn't track the juniors progress in school, or check with his parents to see how things are going. I don't know all of the recruiting rules and guideline but if you can't contact the recruits directly, are you allowed to stay in touch with his coach and parents. Or is that what Willie Lyles is for. Are they treating Fournette the same.

The NCAA prohibits colleges from contacting the 2014 kids until this spring, when I think they are allowed to call them once. Any contact now has to be initiated by the recruit. A recruit can call a college coach, and if the coach answers, they can talk. The college coach cannot return calls. Mr. Daub is not alone, no college should be contacting 2014 recruits. They can send mail, reqeust transcripts, that is about it.

If you want to bitch about Miles and the staff, this is not the board or the topic for it. Arguing that this staff doesnt have recruiting on lockdown is a losing one.
