I think it's interesting that the ref, when making the announcement to the crowd, said that it was an unusual rule.

I think it goes like this. A defensive player gets a turnover in the field of play, but for whatever reason carries the ball into his own end zone where he is tackled.

The only other one I know of was when Texas scored one against TAMU in 2004. I saw that one too on television.

The one in the Fiesta bowl was K-State blocked an extra point. K-State recovered the ball on the 3 and pitched the ball back in the endzone where a K-state player was tackled (resulting in a safety).

And I was telling all my buds about it one day. They were all like "nah, bro. That never happens" Needless to say, I gloated tonight.

Not me. I don't understand the 1pt thing. If K St. had run it all the way back wouldn't they have got 2 pts?

I guess it's essentially like why get something good for doing something bad? You got your kick (worth 1 point) blocked, the other team recovers it and you tackle them in the end zone. So you don't give them extra credit.

blocked PATs returned all the way by the other team is worth 2 pts... same on 2 pt conversions if it's picked or fumbled and brought back the other way... it's 2 pts for the defense
