thats for sure, dudes like Chris Broussard blatantly make shite up just to stir up internet hits and ratings.

every little thing is blown way the hell out of proportion to the point that their version of events becomes "true" in enough minds which makes it not even matter if its a load of crap.

For example, I remember hearing Cowheard once trash Romo b/c he played in a golf tourney during summer and claimed that meant he never him put in extra film work or practice with players.

Meanwhile here locally the entire month before he went on that rant we were getting tons of stories about how Romo had in fact been at Vally Ranch working out with the WRs and logging time in the film room every damn day.

Maybe these other networks should pony up and pay their way into covering more of these events. ESPN isn't covering it for free.

its not like they arent trying to.

NBC Sports and CBS Sports wanted the Big East but as soon as ESPN knew they would lose it they started getting the ACC to tear it apart to wreck its value.

The NHL left ESPN and they now pretend it doesn't exist. MLS, boxing, MMA, and every other sport they dont have deals with get the same treatment.

If everyone started on equal footing it wouldn't be such a big deal but they have grown to such a dominating force that its basically suicide to go elsewhere at this point.

Its going to take a long time for any of the other sports channels to move up to their level of influence. So you could go with NBC or CBS with their sports channels but doing so means you are going to be ignored by the most powerful sports medium in the world.

Not many are willing to take a risk like that.

Link?

ESPN covers sports that people aren't interested in. They're in it for ratings, not niche audiences. NBC covers MLS fairly well. Any good boxing match will be on PPV. Not enough people care enough about the sport to watch nobodies fight on Friday night anymore. MMA is covered exclusively by other networks and, honestly, is in the same category as WWE for most folks that aren't enthusiasts.

Everyone started on equal footing. ESPN has taken what they've wanted. That's capitalism and anything else would possibly force mediocrity upon us.

I have no issue with ESPN because they do a good job and they've built their brand the right way.

no, they are not on equal footing.

NBC Sports and CBS Sports are both relatively new.

They have a 30 year head start on most sports specific channels.

I'm having trouble finding the link right now but one of the ACC head honchos came out and said ESPN told them to go after Syracuse and Pitt. This happened right around the time the Big East announced they were going to take their TV rights to open market. Connect the dots. He later backtracked but you dont get a thought in your head like that out of nowhere.

and what ESPN is practicing is not the kind of capitalism that is good for longterm growth for all sports entities involved. They try to form monopolies to bully their way into getting what they want which is a bad thing.
