Perhaps 60 percent of the expected 73,000 fans at University of Phoenix Stadium will be dressed in and pulling for purple, with uniform variations not being "what we do," Snyder said. Kansas State fans snapped up 5,000 tickets — which Oregon, playing in a fourth consecutive BCS bowl, could not sell — for its first BCS game since the 2004 Fiesta Bowl.

Kansas State has one of the most underrated fanbases in the nation, and Oregon has one of the most overrated fanbases in the nation.

This doesn't surprise me.

I wouldn't be surprised if it were 75% K-State fans.

Yea, this is not even counting the tickets floating around on stubhub and what not. KSU will pack the house. How VT got into the Sugar Bowl over them based on 'travelling fan base' is beyond me.

When we played Oregon in the BCS, they didn't show up.

There were more Auburn people outside the stadium who didnt get tickets than there were Oregon people inside..

Overrated

What's new? KSU in their first BCS game in over 10 years or Oregon in their 4th straight in a game that is not the Rose or the BCSNG. Not that we attend those either but you'd think we'd pack the house against KSU when we have no tie in or no stakes?

Nothing could be worse than the '03 Fiesta Bowl when the entire stadium consisted of OSU fans. Go figure that Miami's two national title games during the last decade came against two of the best traveling fanbases in the country.

Maybe who live there. But as for being there for the game, Auburn outnumbered oregon fans by quite a bit. And a large number of Auburn fans were stuck in the southeast because of the ice storm as well

No, not even close. And as Lanier said, tons of Auburn fans that flew out and didn't manage to get tickets.

That's because there are a ton of Ohio St alumni/fans in that area for some reason. Isn't there an actual city close by named Buckeye?

Hell even we sold out our complete allotments for national title games (96 Fiesta, 07 BCS, 09 BCS).
