IYO, What game gives you the best value for the amount of $ you spend?
I ask this because I was talking with my country-fied relatives who hunt ALOT(I've only dabbled in duck hunts and dove hunts).....and they were of the opinion that duck hunting was way too expensive for what you end up harvesting. Which got me thinking, If I wanted to pick up hunting, what would be the best game to go after without spending a ton of $?

Pretty sure it was a toss up between Turkey and Deer for their pick of most econimical

obviously it would be deer.

for deer, all you need is a rifle/shotgun, you can hunt public land, you don't need a stand, you don't need camo, and you get the most meat

If your picking on animal to hunt then dove hunting is the cheapest....but nobody JUST dove hunts.

Yep didnt think about pigs...And some people will ask you to come hunt their land for free as long as you kill as many as you can.

Conservation goose hunting if doing a goose sneak. I trap for several farmers so I can normally get permission to goose hunt there. Had multiple 100 plus days with a high in the mid 300s.

Crawfishing Sherburne WMA. Pretty damn cheap and very rewarding.

Same with fishing for turtles. Pretty cheap, turtle meat is divine and also a very rewarding experience.

I find great reward in the primitive harvesting of really anything.

ETA: Previous statement expressed better through this photo:

I was suprised how everyone reacted when I said I'd only been duck hunting. "Are you made of money?!" was their reaction. I havent hunted enough to even consider what the price of one thing vs another is.

Lets get a list going..Hows this for a guess?(eta. least expensive to most):

Hog
FW Fishing
Dove
Goose
Deer
Coon
Rabbit
Turkey
SW Fishing
Duck

Also, where would fishing be? I imagine its par with deer or maybe a little more expensive for salt water

hogs, and rabbits

Unlimited season, die easily with 22LR, and they are plentiful.

This is exactly why I quit hunting ducks. You kill your limit and you still ain't got shite.

Plus my family has a little land so I hunt deer for nothing!

Come on over, we can run some rabbit dogs together. I dont ever specifically hunt em but shoot them if I see one in an opening and I have a shotgun or 22 on me.
