One thing you are going to have to add in next year's prediction thread is Bitcoin's USD value.

I'm dead last but have had my 2nd best trading year % return wise out of the 7 years I've been trading/investing.

I was half correct in my prediction of
quote:

I think we see all time highs in the equity markets and we see inflation in the commodity market

I was very wrong on the inflation theory.

Thanks for taking the time to do this Russian, know it must take a while to compile the numbers.

And sorry about the scrape you and I got into earlier this week. Won't happen again.

You're welcome but it's not time consuming at all. I've put the predictions on an Excel spreadsheet with formulas in place to do all the computations and the second worksheet tab is the 'sort' process which is automatic. I enjoy doing it. Of course, I'd enjoy it more if I was doing better with my predictions.

You're overreacting. I didn't consider it to be a 'scrape' or anything near that, just a miniscule misunderstanding. We're good.

Yep. For me to win I only need the DJ to drop about 4,000 points on Monday or Tuesday.

Just waiting for the markets to close and settle. I plan on using the CNBC website for all the prices/indices.

I'll post the final results this afternoon.

I'm also going to start a 2014 prediction thread. What would be a good deadline for people to post their predictions? Maybe January 15 end of trading day?

Yeah, I'd say two weeks.... Or actually by like 8pm on the 12th, since that is a Sunday.

I've followed things A LOT more closely this year, so hopefully my guesses won't just be shots in the dark this time

Yeah sounds good. Any changes to your categories?

Okay, sounds good to me. I'll put that entry deadline in the 2014 prediction thread.

To answer C's question, are there any other categories we should add?

Please remember if we add to the categories, it will force me to have to reconfigure the spreadsheet so let's make any additions worthwhile. It's not a big deal to make changes, but I'd like to keep the changes to a minimum if possible.

If we drop a category and replace it with something else, there is no additional effort for me on the spreadsheet, so there's that...

Bitcoins is the obvious, IMO, because it gets debated a lot. Maybe a specific large technology growth stock such as google, apple, amazon, FB. Maybe using a foriegn index vs 3 US based stock markets.

I'm not going to use bitcoin.

It is so volatile that it alone could completely change the results even if someone is spot on with their other predictions. I just checked and btc has had a 24% price range differential just over the last 7 days according to MtGox.

If you want to start a "Predict the price of bitcoin on 12/31/14" thread so that it is the only prediction, have at it.

What foreign index would you suggest? Nikkei?
