Guys drafted after Rivers

11. Myers Leonard - 5ppg playing 16mpg. Not a position of need
12. Jeremy Lamb- just recalled from D League. Played in 11 games, 2ppg
13. Kendall Marshall- played in 8 games, has yet to register a point
14. John Henson- 10mpg, averages 4/3
15. Mo Harkless- 18mpg, averages 4/4
16. Royce White- lulz
17. Tyler Zeller- gettin 25mpg, putting up 8/5. Not terrible
18. Terrence Jones- 8mpg
19. Andrew Nicholson- 14mpg, 7/3. Contributor
20. Evan Fournier- 8mpg
21. Jared Sullinger- 5/5 in 18mg. Contributor
22. Fab Melo- hasn't played a minute
23. John Jenkins- 6mpg
24. Jared Cunningham- 3pmg
25. Tony Wroten- has played in 3 games
26. Miles Plumlee- 2 games
27. Arnett Moultrie- 11 games, 5mpg
28. Perry Jones- 10 games, 7mpg
29. Marquis Teague- 7mpg
30. Festus Ezeli- 16mpg, 3/4
So which one of these studs should we have drafted at 10? Zeller, Nicholson and Sullinger are the only 3 who are even getting consistent PT, and we already have decent players at those positions. Most aren't even active every night and some haven't even played yet! Only so many rookies come out and play well in their rookie years. And they are usually taken in the top 10
We have a guy getting the 6th most minutes out of any rookies. He has ample chance to fail, but also is getting the chance to learn. 20 years old, 29 games into his career.

Only a handful of guys drafted before him are doing anything of note as well. I pointed this out, unfortunately people just love to be miserable.

People griped about not playing rookies, trusting Thornton, etc. by Monty and previous regimes. They have a guy they want to develop. It may not work out, but they are sticking with it.

They have Rivers on the brain. Right or wrong, they have a plan and are committed to it.

Yup
Lillard is obviously tearing it up. He's also playing 38mpg
Waiters and Beal are playing decent, but are still shooting 35%
MKG has arguably been the best rookie IMO.
Shved, Valuncianus, Barnes have been ok too.
Even so, you can still find serious faults in all of their games.

Drummond has been great. 7/7 and 1.5 blocks per game in under 20 minutes.

Good work. He is frustrating to watch at times but he is 20 and playing at the highest level of competition. He has a lot of learning to do and plenty of time to do it, and he's shown flashes of what he can become with work and experience.

IMO rivers biggest struggle is not being aggressive enough, and that will come with time

He's obviously the true jewel of the draft and he really isn't talked about as much as he should be nationally since Lillard is compiling numbers in POR

Rivers, to me, is having a "welcome to the NBA" moment. It's a huge transition being the son of a famous NBA player and coach, and being a the "big man on campus" at Duke. Now, he's just a guy at this point.
Monty gets a lot of praise of being a great coach. This is where he has to earn that title. Rivers has the potential and pedigree to be an All Star. Lets see Monty and Dell do their thing.

It's hard to say right now as most rookies aren't given the opportunity to play right now. And most of them aren't ready to make an impact. Rivers is in that same boat. He isn't ready but was forced to log heavy minutes due to Gordon's setback prior to the season. It's all a bunch of knee-jerk reactions stemming from the role the kid was forced into early on.

Rivers is so quick and get by defenders off the dribble but has trouble finishing.
That will come as his game matures, and he gets bigger and stronger.
Only guy I would want from that list instead of Rivers is Harkless.

I think he will develop in to something worthy of the 10 pick at least. We should be patient. Now that Gordon is around he won't have all the pressure on him.

People forget that Austin was drafted initially with the plan of likely having him come off the bench behind EG. Now that he's kinda been thrown into the fire, he knows what he needs to work on and can watch how EG plays now and learn from him off the bench.
