So I got a large big green egg for Christmas and will assemble and set it up today. I got the wooden table (holder) with it.
So what are some good, easy recipes to start with?

Spatchcock chicken. I am doing a brisket on the primo today.

Well share some recipes bro. Or point me to a website or a good recipe book I can buy. I will say, I have an aversion to recipes with so many weird ingredients that it requires a special grocery trip to buy obscure spices that I'll never use again.

The booklet that comes with the BGE has several good recipes in it; I especially like the ribs and the Simon & Garfunkel chicken. Either of those would be a good, easy start for you. And as someone already posted, the BGE forum is a great resource for recipes and cooking tips.

Any bbq or grilling recipe will be great. The egghead forum is an excellent place to start. If you are looking to smoke something, one of the most forgiving piece of meat to smoke is a pork butt, but it takes a really long time so keep that in mind.

Start with something cheap and easy. dont want to go overboard with an expensive piece of meat. the temp control will take a bit of getting used to

Just throw a whole chicken on it, seasoned the way you like it. There is no need to cut the back out "spatchcock" it on a ceramic cooker because the heat is uniform.

I agree with Cajun Alum, get something cheap to start. There is a definite learning curve, but most folks catch on pretty quick. Any ceramic cooker website will have all the recipes you will need. BGE ,primo, Kamado Joe

Just put something on the grill with a thermometer in it and leave it alone . That's what make these cookers so great . Don't aggravate the meat .

Jealousy does not look good on you. Neither does stupidity. If you read the OP, you would know that he has already purchased his egg.

Well it was a gift so it's already bought. So you keep eating your Hungry Man frozen dinners and I'll enjoy my BBQ.

I don't think you know how to use your BGE. I had a Weber. BGE is miles better.
