I didn't like the game cube controller. I thought the console was okay. Had some good games

What were they thinking when they made the controller?

I can't speak for all of the designs, but the green "A" button being so big was because they determined that games usually use one button more than all the others, so why not make it bigger and easier to hit?

Everything else was ergonomic from there. I always thought it felt really good in your hands.

The release of the Xbox probably had a big impact. At least for my generation, once Halo came out, it was a huge deal and I remember many friends immediately selling their Game Cubes in order to buy an Xbox. Of course, the Halo franchise continued to grow and Xbox owners stayed with them.

I liked the GameCube controller except for the loud and over springy triggers. Needed to be a more subtle spring and feel.

Gamecube was a great console; much better than the Wii.

It got washed up by Xbox and PS, the era of the "serious" gamer.

Look past the cel shading ( which was still very pretty)

I'm currently playing it on the dolphin emulator for the first time. It likely doesn't look that great on a Gamecube, but emulated at 1080p with anti-aliasing and this game is absolutely gorgeous. I find it hard to believe that it is a 10 year old game.

I missed out on WW when it first came out because of the graphics, but now I can say that they are beautiful and have stood the test of time. Also a fantastically fun game.

As for the gamecube, it had the best graphics of that generation, the best controller of that generation (imo), and a solid library. Not sure why it was overshadowed by the PS2.

Super Smash Bros
Mario Kart Double Dash
Animal Crossing
Metroid Prime 1 & 2
Wind Waker
Twilight Princess
Star Wars Rogue Squadron
Luigi's Mansion
Phantasy Star Online (Dreamcast Port)
RE 0, 1, and 4
Eternal Darkness
Tales of Symphonia
Skies of Arcadia (Dreamcast Port)
Super Mario Sunshine

I had a GameCube and enjoyed it, especially wind waker. I also liked the metroid prime series.

I think one of the major reasons that it faded out was that it did not support DVD playback. When the Ps2 came out with that, they crushed everyone bc now you had average gaming fans taking the plunge on the ps2 because of its dual functionality.

It only played Gamecube games, had an ugly design and weird controller. There was no online play outside of a few Phantasy Star games. I still had way more fun playing it than I did my Xbox.

I honestly really liked the GC controller. Great for Smash Bros.

Probably the best example of a video game that shite the bed. It should have been excellent, but it had no business being a Star Fox game. Could have turned into a great franchise, but they just had to make it a Star Fox game and retardedly had Andross as the main boss.

My cousin had one when we were younger. Could barely play it I hated the controller so much.

The fact that the Zelda game was in crappy stylized animation didn't help matters.

so.. arguable one of the most revered zelda games ever.. was the problem, not a help?!

I personally didn't care for the games.

This generation had 4 of my favorite games of all time:

Eternal Darkness
Resident Evil 4
Smash Brothers Melee
LoZ: WW

So because you don't wan't to play it anymore, it's a flop?

since when is "not wanting to play something" considered a flop anyways.. isn't that console sales and game sales?!

Read the OP. Sales was not part of his reasoning.

Red Stripe has me not really caring, though.

One reason. Gamecube had some very good games on it, but PS2 had so many games in general. I mean damn, it was like every single week something new and good was coming out. It was ridiculous. It was one of the longest lasting consoles of all time. Big gamecube releases seemed a lot farther between.

As for windwaker, I learned a long time ago that graphics do not make a game. In fact, stylized graphics as in the case of WW tend to stand the test of time much longer than games with realistic styled graphics.

Don't make fun of Starfox Adventures!

Sure it should have never been included as a Starfox game, but as a game in its own right it was a hell of a lot of fun.

Main color was purple, no online play and couldn't play DVD's are mainly the reasons it sold less then the PS2 and Xbox. But it didn't "flop".

What was so wrong with the controller? I never had any issues with it at all.
