HEY - Anybody got the backstory? Were they approached by TV or did someone with Robertson ties pitch he idea? How long did it take to get it going?

there was duck commander show first.
then buck commander
then dd..

probly a n' e network got the idea from the dc show on the outdoor channel and approached them, just a guess.. orange country chopper, etc. etc..

and yes, your ears should have been burning...

Judging by what else is on the tube if you don't spend 200$ a month, seems like a no brainer.
I would guess some network smut thought of it.

If that's the case, then why didn't Dan Chasin get his own A&E show?

I'm sure the LA movie tax/incentive played the biggest part. I would guess A&E approached them off of their DVD's. the LA movie tax/credit is apparently ridiculous. Hence chootem', red jacket, Cajun pawn stars, etc...

There were also DVD's before any of the TV shows.

They have Producers all over Louisiana looking for reality shows. We had a couple approach us at our place, but it never went anywhere. I wasn't sure if that would have been something I wanted to be a part of.

Ol' scraggly beard man serving food at the local shelter isn't exactly great TV.

The DC shows were pretty funny when they weren't showing hunting. I haven't noticed them lately, was it discontinued as part of the Duck Dynasty deal? I know BC is still on the outdoor channel.

I've heard Willie and his wife shopped the idea to several networks and A&E bought it, you can tell by the way they focus on Willie so much on the show when in reality Jase and Phil are at the heart of that company and why it was first started IMO

Jase seems way more authentic than Willie IMO

You can tell Willies got it in him but Jase seems like pure redneck

We've had several movie scenes shot at my parents house. Not giving movie titles. I don't want you frickers knowing where I grew up
ETA: only for the long driveway and oak trees

I blew a Duck Commander call back in the 80's. People were still big on Yentzen and Faulks back then with Haydell just getting going-from what I remember.
