The pacific is as good but really different. Hard to explain.

Dirtier more suffering. You need to see it.

Watching platoon now is why I was thinking about this topic. Got me thinking about cadence which is not a war movie but I loved it. " that's the sound of the man working on the train yeah a yeah".

Those were contractors fwiw

Saving Private Ryan has to be #1

Without a doubt it is the most historically accurate war movie I've ever seen, I like Black Hawk Down but it's been kind of ruined for me because I've worked under, and been around guys who were actually there and they say it's a lot of bullshite.

Act of Valor was really good too just because of the little nuances that were made possible by having real operators in it.

Saving private Ryan was not historically correct unless you are talking about the opening scene and the invasion the rest is fabricated.
Black hawk down is more accurate than we were soldiers. Hell how long have you been in the army to know all these people that were there. It can't be that long because you've never been deployed unless your a nasty girl.

Tigerland was pretty good, and filmed here in Louisiana.. one of Colin Ferrell's first movies.

The Pacific and Band of Brothers mini-series were top notch.

Saving Private Ryan beach scene was one of the best shot scenes ever IMO.

Read Generation Kill then watch that mini-series for a modern account of war in the ME.

Not talking about the story, more so the little details that usually make anyone in the Military roll their eyes while watching a war movie.

1st Sgt at batt was a specialist at the time, he came in on the CSAR bird. Plenty that still hang around inside the brown fence.
