A one-day gun buyback event in Los Angeles on Wednesday gathered 2,037 firearms, including 75 assault weapons and two rocket launchers, officials said. The total was nearly 400 more weapons than were collected in a similar buyback earlier this year.

So, do they run the numbers or just give money for stolen weapons too?

Would love to see how the numbers dropped if they checked.

The government probably bought the guns and turned them in themselves. All part of a rigged PR bullshite scam to ease tension.

I felt the same way at first, and then I figured if you once bought a rocket launcher and then sold it in response to the shooting, you're probably a little sensitive/touchy. meh.

I wager most of them were mostly broken or useless somehow. Brilliant program for sure!

And I wonder what they cost in Shotgun News or similar. Less than $200?

I have to wonder about a police department that won't question someone when they bring in a rocket launcher. That's not a firearm, that is true military hardware that I doubt you can even get legally in the US. At the very minimum go talk to them the next week or something? If it's an empty tube, then they shouldn't be paying for it.
