Burgers at Port of Call
Po-Boys at Johnny's
The Gumbo Shoppe will have "Louisiana Food" in your price range.
Central Grocery for a Muffalleta
Verti Mart for good food cheap
You can probably get a decent lunch at Mr. B's Bistro for about $25/person... Less if you have a couple apps and split an entree.

For Sunday Brunch try the Atchafalaya Room on Louisiana and Laurel. Some of the best Sunday Brunch I've ever had.

Finally went to the Irish house this weekend, would go again.

Also did coquette, don't think it is in your price range though.

Lil Dizzy's on Esplanade.

Not in walking distance but seafood gumbo, fried chicken, eggs & bacon for breakfast is hard to beat.

I'm with you on that one, Mother's is pretty far down my list. More of a tourist trap, IMO

Now if you want to move out from the FQ... You've got tons of options in the Garden District. Lite fare at the Delachaisse.... Chinese food at August Moon, etc...

Really? I was gonna eat there today. I did notice last night when I walked by that all the pictures were gone from the walls.
