Sony wanted to charge me 100 (w/o shipping) to fix the blinking red light of death. I called two shops in New Orleans area who said they 'fix' it for around the same price, but admitted it would only be temporary. They went so far as telling me to just get a new one... Which i actually ended up doing over online black friday deals. Between spending close to a hundred dollars either way for little or no warranty, you might be better off upgrading (I had the 40gb fatty). Just my 2cents.

Some people think the ps4 may be out within a year. Since this isnt yet certain and being we use ours for more than just games I decided not to wait.

I took my old 360 to one to get a RROD fix and it was only temporary. Less then a week later (with light use) it had the same issue and after several trips and repairs I just gave up and got a new one. Any of these third party repair services will frick you over.

I was happy when they opened up a GS on airline so I didn't have to go all the way to Siegen. PlayNTrade was close, but had terrible management.
