While I agree that reality shows, including HK, have some staged elements, that seemed genuine. How would they stage that with the guy getting instantly kicked off? You think they came to him earlier and said "look, we don't really want you on the show anymore. Just stage a confrontation so we can kick you off"

I think people that get "that pissed off" throw a punch or smash something, he was certainly willing to get into his face. In those reality contest shows, there is always that person who gets into that really big altercation early on in the show. I don't even think that person is a real contestant, more like a plant. I am sure the commercials that lead up to that episode (which would have been a very early one) looked great, gotta hook the audience.

That was 100% staged. If I remember correctly that guy had military background. Seeing how bad he responds to a chef, he wouldn't last a minute in the military. This year was the last year I am watching because the staged stuff became out of control.
