I've been duck hunting since I was about 8 or 9 (I'm 24 now), never hunted deer.

I want to get into bow hunting. Dad's a duck/goose/dove hunter, hunted deer in college but not since.

Q's:

How difficult is it to get started?

What's the best bow for a noob?

What's the best way to learn the particular nuances of bow hunting? Hunt with another bow hunter? Watch vids? Read books?

Finding land to hunt on isn't a problem; we have some land we use for dove hunting that my dad's buddy built some blinds on and has some feeders set up for; he's killed a couple there over the last two or three years.

(I'll end with a note that my desire to bow hunt has been sparked by Steven Rinella's Meat Eater. If you haven't read it, you should.)

Well, the largest hurdle is finding land. You've got that covered. Hoyt, Bowtech, PSE, all have mid-range bows to get started. You'll spend ~$600.00 on a setup. The only tip is to make sure those blinds have enough room to shoot your bow.

Thanks for the feedback. I was hoping land would be the biggest hurdle.
