I just got the game and was getting murdered online. Usually end up with way more deaths than kills. I am not a big time player. I played Modern Warfare quite a bit online, but that's it...and I was not good at that.

What are some tips in getting better? What types of weapons? What strategies to use, etc... I'm going to be playing the shite out of this, so I don't want to suck.

I've played cod online from cod4 onward. Every time a new game came out, I would struggle a little in the beginning, and after a few hours I was back to normal. If you are good at this style of game, honestly it just takes a little time to get accustomed to the gameplay. If you suck, try their new training thing. If you still suck, oh well...life goes on.

Honestly it all depends on the map/game mode/your play style.

For instance if you are a run and gun type of player, you wanna set your class up to be fast and usually use an SMG.

if you're like me, i run around a lot but always shoot from a distance if possible, so I use an m27 and then a pistol for close range stuff.

I always tell new guys to hug the outskirts of the map cause it helps them learn the maps/not get shot in the back so much.

What gametypes do you play? Are you on the 360?

Some of the good guns in the game are the PDW, MSMC, and FAL. Toughness is pretty much a must as your second perk, but the other two slots are preference. Learn the maps and the high traffic areas on each map. Use grip on most guns to fire better at distance. Leave out a secondary unless you are sniping and need a close range weapon. Playing in a group will also usually increase performance.

The hardest thing is getting started in games like this. It all depends on finding the guns you are most comfortable with. People will say this gun is better than that one, this gun sucks, etc., but all of that is personal preference. While one person may hate a gun, someone else may find the best success with it.

If you play objective gameplay like Domination, go around the outside of the map instead of rushing to B to learn where people like to set up camp in certain spots that can overlook B. We like to rush B, but the teams I play on know where the gunfire will come from. Also, unless you are losing, don't triple cap on Domi. Spawns get messed up and you wind up losing more bases that way. You could use this same plan for Team Deathmatch since there will likely always be someone aiming down the sights on the open area just waiting for someone to come across.

Determining the guns that you like and the type of gamer you want to be (run and gunner, distance shooting, sniper) are the two things you want to figure out. Once you do that, success likely starts to follow

Don't camp, play cautiously. Use hard line. Turn up the brightness to catch those queers sitting in a corner.

It took me a month to get adjusted to this game after only playing bf3 for the past year

SMGs rule the game. SMGs+suppressor especially rule the game. Obviously this class is harder to master bc aiming is more difficult and it takes a higher skill to use it successfully but if you get even remotely decent with it you will wreck.

I run perk 1 greed and primary gun fighter on just about every class. Hardline is worth it to me and the attachments > anything perk 2/3 slot offers.

Run UAV!!! If you aren't familiar with the maps or just suck, RUN UAV!!! I ran UAV almost my entire first 2 prestiges to counter not knowing the maps. This kept my k/d up as I was becoming familiar with the game.

Are SMG's and suppressors really that hard to master if EVERYONE does it?

you and penn are especially good with ARs. I always see penn using the AN-whatever. I have tried using it and am just awful.

MSMC was my bread and butter but I've moved onto other SMGs when I want to rush.

Vector with silencer and laser sight has turned into my bread and butter for SMGs. Didn't like the laser sight at first but I can kill people normally without even aiming down the sights now. Me and Hil can run that club on Plaza

If you're not too good at close quarters go with an AR. Try and keep enemies at a medium/long distance and strafe in and out of cover when in gunfights.

If you're gonna rush use a SMG and hip fire is your friend. If you're hurt take a second to stay behind cover and heal before running out again. A lot of players travel with a butt buddy or two so don't always reload after every single gunfight unless you have like 5 or 6 bullets.

Don't be afraid to run from a gunfight.

I have a "try-hard" class for when we play good teams. It's a vector+silencer and is prob my best gun. I also think the MP7+silencer is solid. Hell all the SMGs are solid.

I have mastered the club + B flag combo. Although we were in a ground war the other day and some kids destroyed us in the club. They held it down like I've never seen. Once you get control of the club you are pretty much unstoppable.

This is one of my biggest problems. I'm a compulsive reloader.

My wish was to hear the sound bites "I'm dry" and "I'm going in" back to back.

Alas.....
