Haven't seen a single episode of Lost, Sopranos, The Wire, Dexter, etc. you name it...haven't seen it. So which one bats lead off in your opinion?

I'm in the minority here, but I'd say avoid LOST. It's more frustrating than it is worth it.

If you like plot driven shows, The Wire. But it will ruin all cop shows for you.
If you like shows with strong characters, The Sopranos.

Lost.
None of the others you mentioned. Watch Sherlock for sure.

Dexter
I'm not a big tv show kind of guy. I love movies but shows grow cheesy over time, in my opinion.
Dexter is the exception to the rule on this.

The Wire
The Sopranos
Game of Thrones
Breaking Bad
I cant believe anyone is mentioning Lost. It was great the first season, then the writers had no plan going forward (as they have admitted) and just made shite up as they went for 4 seasons. Finally when they established an end date it improved, but it was a very frustrating and disappointing show to watch. I wouldnt bother.

Seen all of these and love them

Haven't seen any, so can't comment.
Of the ones I've seen, I would suggest:
Dexter
Lost
The Wire
Now, let me preface by saying Dexter isn't my favorite show out of the 3, but it's the least commitment. LOST is my 2nd favorite show of all time, but it's a solid commitment. There's 20+ episodes a season all at around 40 minutes, and there's 6 seasons. It's a lot to get through. I think the payoff is much higher with LOST, but it takes a lot of time.
Dexter is more straightforward. There aren't nearly as many twists, turns, and questions in Dexter. Also, up to now there's really only been 1 season that would be considered subpar, while the rest range from good to absolutely outstanding.
I know it's sacrilege on this board, but I gave up on the Wire. I just found the pacing to be incredibly slow. I don't need explosions and car chases to keep me entertained, but the show just moves at a snail's pace.
Also, if you haven't seen Breaking Bad I would put that at the top. It gets better every season, and (along with Dexter) is still a "current" show so you can watch the final season live.

So seasons 1 and 6 were the only worthwhile seasons IYO? Geez I'm sorry to hear that. I'll never forget watching LOST, it was one of the greatest entertainment experiences of my life.

I would watch lost and avoid those others.

Without a doubt, The Sopranos. Everyone should watch it.

Thanks. I've got a good sample size above to make the plunge.
No one has mentioned 24. Is that way behind the others mentioned. Just curious.
