how much does a vet charge for a leg amputation?

Got to get my little weener dogs leg amputated. Been quoted $600 from one place and $1100 from another.
That seems crazy high to me.
Anybody been through this recently?

Just do it yourself then bring it to the vet to get sewn up.

Oh no. What happened? I hate the thought of that happening to a dachschund. We have a little girl just over a year old.

Little dude has had some bad luck.
Botched surgery in 2009 when he was less than a year old. Unsuccesful surgery a couple months ago. Will never take an animal to LSU vet school again.
I know alot of people can't stand little lap dogs. But this is my buddy.
