I still think I am going to order some silver bars from Silvertowne....
All the reviews I have read are good and with how much I plan on ordering at a time, I will save $3-4 an ounce due to their prices and shipping.

You should definitely do a little research on the history of U.S. minting sites. The stories are fairly entertaining and interesting for that matter.

Honestly, I think that's a waste of time and money for the price. $105 for 3 90%silver coins (dime, quarter, half dollar)? You could buy two Silver Eagle proofs for that price and have two ounces of bullion in the process. Just my $.02. But if you are doing it merely for the collecting aspect, by all means. Proofs are proofs. I just wouldn't spend that much for that little silver but then again my investing purpose is not totally geared towards collecting for collecting's sake but rather quality and content.

The seller I was looking at was on Craigslist and they said they would take best offer. So I don't know what I could bargain the price at with them, though I would not pay $105 for 5 1994 coins. As the seller has yet to contact me back it appears this effort will be for nil.
Question about your Silver eagles, did you purchase those through the mint or have you did you buy those through a different route? I acquired a 1987 silver eagle this past weekend from a collection my late grandmother put together. I had no interest in those until I acquired one.

Another Silver Eagle question...
How come they (APMEX) sell them Uncirculated around $35. LINK
Then they sell them certified and rated for around $40 and higher. LINK
It seems like the Uncirculated would be worth more. What am I missing?
And I just used 2007 as my example because that was the latest year they had in stock in both. But even random year of their choosing on rated ones, the price is ~$40.

Question about Silver buying...
If I was just going to purchase silver bars to compliment my allotment of pre-1964 coins, is it better to purchase 1oz, 5oz, or 10oz bars
Or would it be better do own a little bit of each?

My approach has always been to get a round and bar each buy, both an ounce each. Recently I have started dabbling in older coins, Morgans, and I bought a roll of war nickels. So my approach has been changed slightly.
My goal from here til the end of the year is to purchase a Silver Eagle and a bar, until I reach (20) 1 oz. bars. I would like to try to acquire an Eagle from each year dating back, starting with the 2012 I purchased last month. Of course, I will probably jump forward to get the 2013 next month then start dating back. Then use the extra money each month to acquire some Morgans, Peace, etc. from my recently discovered local coin shop.
Next year, I will reassess and go from there.
So, all that said and not a single answer to your question.

I try to stay away from coin stores with accounts with the US mint due to the fact they charge higher premiums on eagles than others who don't. I've only bought one eagle from Louisiana gold and coin off of Sherwood blvd. I purchased a 20 coin roll of 2011 ASE's off of eBay for $740 and the others I bought from my buddy who runs a gold and silver shop in South Carolina at spot.

Yeah, been watching it go down all morning... Hoping to buy at 32.50/oz, so it would need to be at 30 for that to happen.
I'm in no rush, unless 30.15 + 2.50 upcharge is a still a great deal???

Who cares about the spot price..the consumer sell market for silver imo is eBay. As long as you are getting lower prices than the average equivalent product on there, you are paying below market price.

I noticed that the other night... There was a 1oz bar for $38 on ebay with a ton of bids, but when I went to the website of the bar maker, they were selling the same bar with free shipping for $33

Right, eBay inflates the market by probably 5 percent of the spot price at minimum. Tonight I'll run some numbers and let you know. Too bad eBay has kind of high seller fees; otherwise there could be an arbitrage opportunity.

From a bit of research, it is because of the brand name.
