Would a different lead singer make these groups songs even better.

I clearly lead off with ACDC. Bon Scott and his scratchy voice dies and they replace him with an almost identical voice in Brian Johnson. OK, so you don't replace Scott with a smooth voice. Love ACDC, hate the lead singers they have had.

2. Love RUSH - Geddy Lee, no like as a singer.

3. The ultimate sacrilege - my all-time favorite band in Led Zepplin. Never been a fan of Robert Plant's.

I guess I don't like male sopranos but then there is Freddie, Steve Perry.

AC/DC, Rush, and Zep have an unmistakeable sound, and that is why their music has stood the test of time. I don't believe they would have been as successful with a different sound, and look at all the great music all three have provided us down through the years.

Queen has never recovered from losing Freddie. As good as May and Taylor are, or any guest singers, they can't really do justice to the music the way Freddie did, and haven't recorded a true album without him.

Journey replaced Steve Perry with that kid that sounds exactly like him. What a fortunate stroke of luck for them! That sound must work for them.

I'm with you on all but Bon Scott & Freddie...

But you can throw Jim Morrisson in there

Lay down the crack pipe. The sound of the vocalists for each of these groups is a significant reason these groups made it as big as they did. While none of the guys you mentioned may be selected as having the best male singing voice, they were all extremely talented vocalists.

Wow. One of my favorite singers. Distinctive and 'nasty' voice, which fit their music perfectly. There was a reason they named their '78' tour, the 'Lock up you Daughters' tour. Did you start out listening to him with AC/DC, or Brian Johnson. It might be an age differnece with people. Us older guys who were in our teens listening to him seem to appreciate him more.

For me I'd go with System of a Down. Love the music but the singer gets to me after a while.

Rush would be awesome without Geddy's voice.

Bob Dylan is a obvious choice. Combine Van Morrison's voice with his songwriting & he would've ruled the world.

Anthony Keidis has his own style that definitely contributed to RHCP's success, buuuuuuuuut he kind of sucks as a singer.
