I had some old shrubs in the front of my house that started to die so I pulled them up. Now the garden is kinda bare and I want to plant something there, but I am not sure if I can plant some evergreen stuff this time of year.

I think so. I'm building a house right now and asked the landscape crew the same think. They acted as if they do it all the time year round.

This is the best time. All the growth is focused in the roots and not foliage.

It is better to plant when plants are dormant but you can pretty much plant a plant ANY time if you're willing to water it regularly.

This is the best time to plant . You can get a good root system established while the ground is gonna stay fairly saturated . During the summer months you would have to water the hell out of them daily
