Why are the Texas Rangers acting like they have no money?

Didn't offer Hamilton, no Napoli, missed out on Z.Greinke, no Cody Ross who was a target, Flat out have fallen flat on every targeted free agent they were after. Going into the season with no improvements over last season.

I wish they would spend a little more but 1) they weren't going to give that money and years to Hamilton. I honestly thing it would've been a mistake to bring him back. His act wore thin and thanks but good luck elsewhere; 2) Nap wanted years. As much I love him, that's too much for essentially a DH as he wasn't going to be an everyday catcher. I applaud the AJ signing; 3) ZG was going to take the money adn the Dodgers have more to spend. Plus he was already living in LA and he's familiar with the NL. The flip side is that I think his numbers break down better in the AL. Those years in MIL were full of Astros and Cubs hitting. Would've been nice to have; 4) AZ came out of nowhere on Ross. I think the Rangers were caught by surprise with the D-bags swooping in.

The Rangers can get FA. They got Beltre and that was a terrific signing. They still have their eye on Bourn which lends it self to the Rangers play of 2 years ago with small ball. Wash loves spee and with Profar, Elvis, Kins, Gentry, and maybe Bourn, they'll have to earn runs as there isn't much power. Kins and Elvis frustrate me with their baserunning and getting picked off.

Something to watch for: if they give Moreland more at bats, I think you'll see some production. if you compare the stats, he is better than Rusty Greer (who was great). The issue is who suffers to give him those bats. They need a 1B and they haven't dedicated Kins to moving there. An infield of Kins, Profar, Andrus, and Beltre sounds awesome on paper

Kins is too valuable at 2nd. He makes some plays that no other 2nd baseman make. I agree with you on everything else. I think they're fine. Murphy will finally get his spot to be an everyday player and as good as Elvis hads been, I think you have to dish him. You can get some serious return. Profar is that good.

Thank you!!! I am having a hard time finding any Ranger fan who agrees with me on this. Plus his agent is the antiChrist Boras. That means you will get bent over if you try to sign a new contract with Elvis. Deal him ala Texiera and get something for him.

I hate to admit it, but he should be dealt before we lose him without getting anything in return. With Swisher signing with the Indians this morning our young players are gonna have to step up in a big way.

I don't think they're acting like they don't have money, but they're being smart with the money they have.

Hamilton - Fan favorite and a perennial all-star BUT he averages just under 130 games a season. He isn't the 2010 Hamilton with the high average, that was an anomaly. He's kind of a "poor man's" Votto with more power if that makes any sense.

Napoli - Pretty big dip in production and the Rangers decided to let him walk. He wouldn't be a guy to put them over the top so that money was best placed elsewhere. This really only looks bad since Hamilton walked IMO. They got AJ for less money and less years.

Greinke - The Rangers would have been retarded to make Greinke the highest paid pitcher in the game. I wouldn't say they "lost out" on this deal.

Simply put, the Rangers are kicking the tires but not overextending themselves. If they struggle this year I'm sure some will point to this offseason but IMO they'll be better off down the road for their moves, or lack thereof.

All the guys they could have signed got overpaid elsewhere. I am glad we didn't overpay.

The rotation isn't that bad. Darvish should improve on his 1st season, Harrison was strong last year, Lewis is coming back in June, hopefully Holland can put it together. Bullpen is still strong.

The offense will take a step back, which sucks. But even then its still better than a lot of offenses out there.
