Does anyone have any experience with a wine pump or any other preservation system? I'm trying to get one as a gift and don't want to buy something that won't work.

Thanks!

The best are the nitrogen fed systems which cost a small fortune, outside of those they're all pretty even. I'm not one to let a bottle sit for too long and go to waste anyways

Thanks. I'm not a wine drinker, so I have no clue.

Would a place like Martin's have a selection of systems? Any other places in New Orleans I can look?

Pump and cap. Yeah, they work, but are a pain in the arse, and wear out.

The less expensive ones can be readily found. A nice system would have to be ordered probably online.

I received one as a gift 6 months ago, and I was pleasantly surprised.
I expected it to just be a gimmick, but it works when I want to save a bottle for the next day or so.

Champagne stoppers work great. Use them on bottles I keep on drinking for the evening. Another thing is after opening the wine (red or white) refrigerate it overnight if you don't drink it all. It'll slow the oxidation process. Like I said though, when I open one its usually for me and the Gf and doesn't last long. Y'all have a safe and happy holiday. Off to work shortly.

It is a sin to waste good wine, just drink until there is no more.
