Should Bo Jackson get any consideration for the Hall of Fame in either sport?

Watched the 30 for 30 on him tonight. It's impossible to deny the impact he had on BOTH sports. Although, it's also impossible to deny that BECAUSE he played both, his career stats in each were significantly curtailed -- with, of course, the contributing factor of a freak injury.

However, the fact remains that he was one of the most influential athletes of a generation. The closest comparison to him in football would probably be Gayle Sayers, and he still had almost twice the rushing yards of Bo. I can't think of one in the HOF in baseball.

I'm not arguing that he should get such consideration. It's just sort of sad that a guy who was arguably the greatest pure athlete of a generation, will probably never be so enshrined.

If he's a baseball hall of famer, so is Grady Sizemore.

Joe Namath's numbers weren't really HOF worthy. Gayle Sayers' stats weren't spectacular either. Many would say they were elected because of their impact on the game.

Damn, I guess I know another way to troll Bammers now.

Although, that was in no way, shape, or form my intention, here.

Adrian Peterson is Bo Jackson. The difference is the medical field is so advanced now that they could repair AP but not Bo

Nah Bo's injury would still be hell on a player today. You'd come back better now but it'd be worse than an ACL.

if there was a overall sports hall of fame, yes for that

but unfortunately he didn't do enough in each sport to warrant consideration for either.

I don't think he could get in either, although to be fair Joe Namath has the worst stats of any HOF QB and pretty much got in for his "impact" and persona.

yeah, the bama fans ragging on bo made me think of joe namath

FWIW, I thought Bo was absolutely phenomenal as a football player but wildly over-rated as a baseball player... he was the kind of baseball player who people raved about for his freakish physical abilities rather than his excellence as a player

Bobby Layne's are about the same as Namath (and Archie Manning), but he played in a different era so that's somewhat misleading

And in fairness to Namath he had 3 or 4 great years -- that and the SB got him in

He's in the College Football Hall of Fame.
Gale Sayers is an interesting case, but he still played longer than Bo and had significantly higher career totals.

The only Hall of Fame Bo Jackson belongs in is the College Football Hall of Fame. He wasn't even close to being a HOF-caliber baseball player. He basically only played five or six years in MLB and had a lifetime OBP of .311. It would be like putting Nelson Cruz in the HOF. And he didn't do it for long enough in the NFL. He only played four seasons and scored 16 career TDs. I like Bo a lot but putting him in the HOF in either sport is ridiculous.

Adrian Peterson had 67 career TDs and four Pro Bowls under his belt before his injury. His career was way better than Bo's career before this season began. Peterson would have been more like this generation's version of Terrell Davis if he had never recovered from his injuries.
