Figured international ball hasn't really been discussed on here lately.

Honestly, if I was a 3 lions supporter, not sure if there would be any cause for optimism for me. Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, and Ferdinand will all be at least 33. Lampard will actually be 36. They probably have the fastest wingers out of anyone but none of them are particularly good. And their central midfield is going to be awful.

Really, the only truly internationally elite players on their starting squad that I know of are Hart and Rooney. Aside from Sterling and Zaha who will still be very young, are there any bright spots on this team going into Brazil?

Wilshere should be a great player by then. Cleverly is coming along as well.

They'll be the best they've been in a while. They'll be stacked up front and will have loads of talent in the midfield. I think this generation will be more successful than the last.

Definitely more talented than Terry, Lamppost, and Co., even in their primes.

I like Wilshere a lot and Cleverley is quality. Neither is going to provide creativity in their attack.

Wilshere is a much more creative player than either Lampard and gerrard who are essentially the same player. Exactly why mid-field has been the problem for England the past decade.

trolling?

If they had Robert Green instead of Hart, they would be really really bad.

Dead serious. They have tons of really young talent and their style isn't traditional.

To be fair, Wilshere is overshadowed by Cazorla in that regard. I still don't see why you think that he's going to be enough to get it done for them. He's a pretty good CM with a great work rate.

He is playing at around 85% right now. At 100% he is a fricking dynamo. Google the first leg of the 2010 UCL versus Barcelona when he was the best player on the pitch with Fabregas, Iniesta, Messi and Xavi playing.

Joe Hart, Glen Johnson, Leighton Baines, Gary Cahill, Ryan Shawcross, Jonjo Shelvey, Tom Cleverly, Jack Wilshere, Jordan Henderson, Raheem Sterling, Wilfried Zaha, Tom Ince, Ox, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck, Jermaine Defoe, Daniel Sturridge, Andy Carroll, Kyle Walker, Phil Jagielka, Martin Kelly, Ryan Bertrand, Aaron Lennon, etc.

PLENTY of creativity and technical ability. The new generation play the ball on the ground as well.

I don't see where you get that. Can you name names? I'll check back on this thread in a little bit.

Right now I can't see them even hanging with the likes of Spain (obviously) or Germany. I would also take Portugal, Argentina, Brazil*, Italy, and France over them in a heartbeat.

Denmark is better shape than France, along with Russia and probably even Poland.

This team's chances died when they ran off Terry. New generation has some talent but it's not ready yet and they've won't have the bottle to compete in 2014. Gerrard might still have a bit part to play but Frank and Rio are not even a shell of their old selves now.
