I compared the Balvenie Doublewood to the Carribean Cask tonight. I probably need to spend more time on the Carribean Cask since I am almost finished with the doublewood bottle, but I think I preferred the doublewood. It had a more intense, smokey flavor. The Carribean Cask was still very good and you can really taste the rum. Both are great, but the nod goes to DW ( it's cheaper too).

I respectfully disagree. Then again, I'm a bourbon guy. The whole smokey scotch thing is what I hate(d) about scotch. I find the Carribean Cask to be great-in fact, it's what I'm sipping now. It has just a hint of "scotchiness" at the tail to identity it as such. Very smooth, very enjoyable.

I agree with this description 100%. But I like my scotch to taste like scotch. I found the CC to be too bourbon like. I also think the sherry complements the scotch better than the rum. Both are great in their own way.

a blend of bourbon, rye and scotch that some how works so well

This sounds like an abomination. Franken-whiskey. I admit to wanting a taste, but not a bottle.

Went to Yellow Rose Distillery last weekend on a batchelor party. Tasted all of the whiskeys there and their vodka. Bought a bottle of Yellow Rose Double Barrel.

What is the boards thoughts on this whiskey?

I'm more of a craft beer guy, but i can appreciate a good whiskey.

Come on now don't hate too much on Crown. While we are on the topic Crown is releasing a "Crown Rye". Curious to give it a taste.

Never had yellow rose. There is a Texas whiskey I have had that I liked but the name escapes me at the moment.

It would be a slap in the face to Mother Nature to not have a drink on the patio with this weather.
