Lofton at MLB=beast
Now hawthorne will be back since I believe the contract is where Saints would owe him same money if they released him as they would owe if he stayed. I really like this pickup and he has stated he is comfortable at MLB and WLB. He seems to have come on lately at SLB though.

As far as M. Wilson, would he move back to LB? Would he be better at WLB or SLB and maybe move Hawthorne to WLB? I would love to see Martez moved to WLB and do alot of blitzing but he is big and could probably play any LB spot.

As far as Vilma, if he takes a paycut and comes back that would be great also and give MW more time to learn LB in Spags scheme. Im starting to think we dont need to draft a LB and wouldnt mind seing 1st round go to DE and if we get 2nd rounder, go DT. What do yall think?

We have Lofton, Hawthorne and Chamberlain. I think Casillas will be back for depth and special teams. Vilma could be back. We need to find some more talent in the draft though.

I think he was going to be our starting SAM. He's good. Not spectacular, but he can shed blocks, and he's a text book tackler. Good in coverage as well.

Lofton set

Hawthorne I count definitely back. They could wanna move him back to WLB tho. Depends on how they grade him at SLB (first year there). We really dunno how much he has been hindered from injury even tho he's back in the lineup.

WLB- Vilma back if he takes a major pay cut. He's still an asset for his brains and leadership but his ability is clearly in decline. Casillas has past the "potential" hope for me. keep him as a role player that has a hard time staying healthy. Chamberlain is more of a utility backup and special teams stud. Not a lot of UFA names that would be the answer. If they end up towards #20 in the draft Mosley might be a consideration (if he declares). I'd love Gerald Hodges or Sean Porter if they could make it to mid 3rd Rd.

Here's hoping Hawthorne is moved back to WSL and we search for a new SLB to start via draft or FA. Chamberlain and Casillas appear to be back-up quality along with Vilma.

Is it time to give up on TMart? I'm kind of at that point. He's kind of like our new Cie Grant IMHO.

Vilma, Chamberlain, Hawthorn and Casillas are capable players. But I'd love an upgrade if we could get one.

who's that? can't figure it out. Tez Wilson at DE?

HERE is some fresh look at Sr. OLBs-

1. Khaseem Green, Rutgers, 6-1, 225. Teams that use a 4-3 will like him as a weakside prospect, but he won’t be for everyone. This former safety does not have ideal size, but he is a playmaker who can cover. He is athletic, fast and productive, and will make tackles all over the field.

4. Gerald Hodges, Penn State, 6-1, 235. He is a good 4-3 prospect as a weakside linebacker. Hodges can run and is effective in space. He can cover running backs and tight ends. He is physical enough.

5. Sean Porter, Texas A&M, 6-2, 230. He has above average athleticism and speed to go with good instincts. He can match up with tight ends. His consistency is a little concerning, and one scout said he didn’t always play well against better competition.

those look pretty promising for 3rd to 5th Rd types

I don't think Vilma will take a pay cut.

How can you say Chamberlain is backup quality? He's been hurt all year.

I didn't mean that as definition of his ability but more his resume. He signed for 3yrs/$4mil. after 4 yrs in the NFL. That's not starter pay. He was an established ST stud. Spags gave him more playing time than he ever had in 2011. He could be a starter. He came here cuz of the opportunity to compete for that. I hope proves productive but until that happens he isn't a player I'd bank on to be the answer.

I see. Back when Chambo signed we were extatic to have a non-Shanle player at that position. BTW, what happened to Shanle?

I remember him being more for depth and ST's.

Shanle is considering his post NFL career after this season. The bell finally tolled.

In Todd McShay's latest draft prediction he has the Saints selecting Jarvis Jones @ #13. I would if that shite happens.

Shanle will deserve some threads when he goes. Similar to Fred Thomas to me. He had some average/decent play and never cost too much. They both stuck in declining roles until there was no more stick left. Criticism was deserved but you could have done worse.

Hope he never has to buy a drink again being a key component of the glorious '09 team.

Your right on blues. A DE and DT in first and second round and a best available DB in third round. Then target a olinemen and a another DB in free agency

everyone is on the 'We're getting our 2nd Rd pick back' bandwagon. Not me. Maybe we will but until then I'm not expecting any sympathy from Goodshit.

As stands now something like Sam Montgomery in the 1st then either a Gerald Hodges/Sean Porter LB or Rambo/Elam/Thomas S in the 3rd would be my prescription.

As much as I love Sam he doesn't seem to be a great speed pass rusher. He had the athleticism but he doesn't use a lot of moves to get around the edge quickly. I wouldn't mind it if we snagged him but he isn't my first choice
