He didn't choose Culpepper however, Culpepper was the back up plan once Brees decided he wasn't going to sign.

“We chose Drew Brees,” Saban told Dan Le Batard of 790 The Ticket in Miami. “I’ve never ever talked about this publicly. . . . That’s the guy we made the first offer to.”

well yeah...but I'm fairly certain that the offer was probably lowball as shite.

Here's you are kind of splitting hairs. The effects of that storm were felt far beyond the city limits of New Orleans. I was simply pointing out that Miles had a chance to go to Michigan but did not. Did they have something to do with him developing an attachment to the school and players after a tragedy?

Similar to what Saban might has experienced last year?

I don't know the man. I will hardly say that he has "softened", but it is not unreasonable to think he has developed a level of attachment to Tuscaloosa that he did not have for Baton Rouge. He has been there longer and has contributed both time and a large sum of money to rebuild the city

I have not seen any evidence to suggest that Saban has a heart, or a soul. This is the same man that stepped over a convulsing player because he was "trying to show leadership." lol. Anything Saban does is for his own interests. He may very well stay at Bama until he retires but he isn't doing it for anyone but himself.

I think he wants a Lombardi Trophy to really solify his legacy. He's gonna get bored winning crystal balls.

So he's now on record stating that

1) He's not going to coach Alabama.

2) His first choice was Drew Brees.

Saban had total control over personnel in that organization. Dante Culpepper came into Miami with basically one functional knee and somehow passed a physical. Horrible physicians? More likely, I think Saban saw him as less of a risk.

Drew Brees didn't accept their lower offer after he failed their physical and thus signed with New Orleans. Culpepper was option B who they could get cheap.... I don't see how this is hard to understand

Still was Saban's decision to offer Brees the lower number.

Which many teams would have done after a failed physical, it happens a lot in the NFL. At the time people thought the Saints had over paid for a player coming off injury who was considered "good" but not "elite."
With SeanP Brees went into that next level to become elite and one of the best.

I don't think Saban "failed" in NFL as he was only 2 games under .500 and the Dolphins have been horrible since

Except for when they won the division under Sparano, right?

LOL at this Bama tard thinking Saban really gives a shite about Tuscaloosa. That dude could care less. Hell of a coach, but he's said all that same shite before everywhere he's been. Do yourself a favor and accept that he could leave one day. It will hurt less when he does. Tornado softened him up, bwahahaha....

I still don't think he leaves.... think he returns from Alabama within next 5 seasons
I do think he cares, I think he cared about LSU, Michigan State, and Toledo but money and opportunity called.

No, but winning the division once does mean that, since Saban, the Dolphins have not always been horrible.

I don't think he leaves either, but to think he has some affinity for Tuscaloosa is silly to me. I absolutely think he has friends and people there he really likes, but i doubt he is too tied to the local Applebee's and shite.

38-56 since Saban left says other wise

By comparison...
Raiders 34-60
Arizona 45-49
Jacksonville 38-56
St. Louis 25-68-1

So 2 teams have been worse since Saban left the Dolphins.... they've accomplished so much in their 1 year of winning and it so proves they haven't been horrible
