Shouldn't I wait on everything else until I have the lower striped and kit?

If you are dead set on building, I would not pass on any deal. My uppers I ordered are both en route, I have LPKs already, but other than ordering them, the lowers are nowhere to be found. Could be weeks, months before they show up for all I know. Thats why I am still looking for ones in stock.

Maybe some, but not really. The stripped lowers that you will see moving forward will all be fully capable for any build or model you want. If not, people will be quick to point it out when they link it.

What about the M4 option? Avoid certain lowers as well?
Same. You shouldnt have to avoid any metal lowers you see in here or that link, they will be more than capable of building whatever you want.

Sorry to throw in another question, but does anyone know if the CMMG .22 conversion kit BCG is the same BCG for a dedicated .22?

I know I asked this a few days ago, but I can't find an answer anywhere. It seems it would be the same, but I just want to make sure.

Seems like it would be, but I am not sure

I have seen the CMMG uppers for $460-ish a few times over the last week

Yeah I may end up just going that route.

I told myself I was going to build my .22 from scratch, but at this point it might be worth it to just buy the competed upper.

Or maybe ill just move my 5.56 to the new lower and build a SBR 300 BLK

So many choices

Has anyone actually had success going to Academy every morning?

Well, you have poly lowers for $80 right now that the CMMG upper may look really good on

Yes, I hit up Walmart at 7:30 and drive straight to Academy to be there before 8 and have thousands of rounds of 9mm, .22, .223/5.56, and .45 now.

As far as weapons, I am not sure what they have gotten in, but I know some people that are there early with me have scored, because they usually get a few in every couple weeks. You just have to be the very first guy in line if you want to be sure to get it.

Sweet. Would you advise against building?

Yup. I snagged the polymer omni lower from PSA a few weeks ago for 70$ so that's what I'm working with.

Someone put the idea of a 300 blackout in my head today though, so I'm considering using the polymer lower for the 5.56 I already have and building off the forged one.

Awesome.

RAT, do you have any experience with Adams Arms?

Found a few complete uppers for sale but they are pricey:

Really confused here.

JGSales has an AR57 .223 AR-15 listed for decent price.

But in researching AR57, all their calibers appear to be FN 5.7×28mm.

Potential scam?

I haven't had any luck ordering with them, and I havent seen that deal pop up anywhere else. I dunno about that one..

Right now, yes. You're best bet is the walmart/academy camp out if you want normal prices.

If you have the patience, you can save hundreds or build a higher quality weapon for what you will find for $1k in Academy.

If you don't have the time to invest in building and the waiting game, then there is nothing wrong with trying to snag one at Academy. I have been doing both for weeks now, I just always go for the ammo I see rather than the weapons in the back.

Either a typo or a scam.

I do not, maybe Carson or some of the other more knowledgeable guys can comment on them.

Just so you guys know, you have to have a 16in barrel, or you will have to apply for a $200 stamp with the NFA for what is considered a short barreled rifle.
If you need clarification on this, or the 14.5in "pinned" barrels, let me know.

Oh damn F that.

I have an AR with a 24 inch bull barrel right now but really want a lightweight AR or AK. Was about to pull the trigger on one or the other then BOOM Sandy Hook happened.

Is this a trap?

Just want to clarify to you guys, Carson, olgi, and a host of others know a hell of a lot more than I do. I am just the guys that monitors the deals and tries to make sure nobody is getting screwed in here.

Just switch out your upper. There are still reasonable uppers to be found if you look hard enough.
