Also, while on the subject, PSA has 30 rd aluminum mags and 20 round poly lancers in stock right now.

I want to order some FDE PMAGS from DSG but since I'm moving in 2 months I keep holding off on it hoping that Magpul will just ship a few hundred thousand all at once and I'd be able to snag a few.

There has been talk of shortages of BCGs for awile and I stumbled across this...
quote:
Del-ton told us at SHOTshow that they were having issues getting the raw steel needed for the carriers. Apparently, its made only to order and wouldnt be up for manufacture again for awhile.

Then we're fricked and anyone who thinks this shite will unfrick itself by Summer is smoking crack. If you're selling your shite today for a "profit" you deserve what you have coming.

Ok. I don't know jack shite about ARs but want to get one soon. What should I absolutely make sure I have?
Best types of uppers?
Lowers?
M4 or don't M4?
Chrome lining?
Build myself or not?
Etc...
Thanks. I don't feel like reading through 71 pages that will be 99% useless.

Open your wallet and pay for whatever you can find. You have no choices at this point...

Well picking and choosing what you want right now might not be the best option. If you just want a first AR the try and get whatever is available. Building your own will be quite difficult right now.

Even if I show up at opening time tomorrow morning when everyone else is at work?

Sadly i have a stripped lower that i can't see getting finished any time soon. Was planning on doing a 20" rifle with A2 stock on that one.

The parts aren't available?

I have talked to reps at 2 different AR manufacturers and they aren't selling any BCG to the general public for the foreseeable future. They are keeping them in house for their own uppers and rifles.

Show up where? If you HAPPEN to be in a gun store that HAPPENS to get a gun and they don't already have a list going. The well is dry...

I assembled 3 this week. It took me 4 weeks to get all the parts. I ordered everything in December 28-31 range.
Bravo Company, Spikes Tactical, and Palmetto State Armory. I don't think it will be hard to order your lower stuff at all. If you know the parts to buy separately. Having someone put them all in a zip-lock bag and mail to you might be a little harder.
To "assemble" one, because you really aren't building a damn thing...You need 4 punches, a hammer, a screwdriver, some felt that you put on bottom of chairs to prevent scratching hard wood, a piece of a 2x4 and maybe a bic pen for the soft plastic to put detents into place. I will post a pick of everything I used to assemble 3 today.
I would Focus on Getting a Lower Receiver (stripped or assembled). Once you have the "Gun" everything else is cosmetic.
