My best friend and 18 of his wife's family is there this week. They just sent me a pic from in front of the castle.
I was thinking about doing a 9mm pistol. Still debating.

Ah. So there is a general assumption that most people will want to eventually SBR it.
I'm almost done with my pistol. I guess I should send some paperwork in....

What is the purpose of buying so many PMAGS?
Do YOU only want 60-90 rounds ready to go when SHTF?

That Magpul forward grip doesn't count has a carrying handle or whatever?
ETA: What's the length on that barrel if you don't mind me asking?

First off, I hate when people on forums of seemingly gun knowledge people start throwing around the terms registering and registered with regards to firearms. This is why 80%+ of the population thinks that all firearms must be registered. And when it comes time to vote on things like registration, if 80%+ of the population thinks that registration is already the norm, they'll probably vote in favor of it. So, it's important, whenever brought up, to make absolutely certain the person/people involved in the conversation understands there is no registering of firearms in Louisiana or in most of the country.
I believe what was trying to be said was that a firearm that was originally built as a rifle cannot be made into a pistol without becoming an SBR and requiring an NFA stamp. A firearm that was originally manufactured as a pistol can be built into a rifle and from a rifle can be built back into a pistol. A lot of the time stripped lowers are "originally manufactured" as "other" instead of the pistol/rifle designations. This allows the purchaser to build it out as he pleases.
As I understand it, as far as turning a rifle or a pistol into an SBR it does not matter what it starts as because the final outcome will be a paid for and stamped SBR. The way I would do it, build my dream SBR in pistol configuration when the stamp comes in complete the conversion.

It's my first time here and I love it. I also love the idea of a 9mm carbine.
Makemewanna, that's a beauty. Most people that know how to make a good pistol will want to turn it into a Sbr, I'm assuming.
Poster who ranted about the registration, I agree to an extent. However, this is not a gun forum and proper terminology is hardly ever used. Just some dudes and dudettes hanging out.

The AFG does not classify as an NFA (according to various letters I've read from ATF), as would a vertical grip. The barrel is 10.5 RRA.

10-4. I'm not trying to sound like a know it all. I don't, by any means, know it all. This is my first build, so I'm still learning a lot about the laws. Now I have to find a place to shoot it...

I understand and I wasn't trying to offend anyone. But this is a prime example of someone who is presumably a gun owner on an outdoor board where firearms ownership is thick therefore the people here must be knowledgable on the matter talking about registration like it is an actual thing. To someone who is uncertain or new to the game sees this, pairs it with all the media BS and from then on thinks registration is real. Or it reiterates the false information someone has always thought to be true. It's an honest mistake but it perpetuates the problem. So, I just like to correct it when I see it.

Again, I see you point and agree. I just don't waste my time correcting every misused term. I would rather spend spend my time collecting gun clips. I hear that the Magpul plastic ones are extra tacticool.

What's the best way to clean the lower? Just spray in with cleaner and take a bunch of Q-tips to it?
Posted on 6/10/13 at 2:55 pm to Drew Orleans
Yea, dont take it apart and dont spray too much. Make sure you clean up whatever you spray in there other than a very little oil

I use Breakfree CLP and spray it like two strays having sex. Let it Doak and then start cleaning with paper towels and Qtips. CLP is a great cleaner and lube so the extra will only help. If it's good enough for the Marines (it is and has been for 20 years) it's good enough for my AR that I use on the weekends.

Thanks and nice. I've been looking at the 7-8" noveske barrels.

Anyone see any DD LPKs in stock lately?

Great barrels. What Cal? Small and unimpressive 5.56 or big boy 300BLK?
Posted on 6/10/13 at 8:03 pm to Ice Cream Sammich
Can you get 300 aac ammo?
Posted on 6/10/13 at 8:05 pm to Ice Cream Sammich
I was going to do some pistols in 5.56 and rifles in 300

It went from plentiful, to non existent, to available but expensive, to able to find one good deals.
It used to be a great option for all. Now it's only practical if you hand load (I will be in less than a momth). It will be a few more months till its viable for all, again.
