I have my 300, and half of my 223/5.56 (upper), and I want to build a 308 after that and I think I'll be done.

Are you referring to the difference between it and an M16?

The grooves that guide the round into the chamber are bigger/longer. Less likely to jam.

Well, the M16 is a rifle with an 20in barrel, the M4 variant is in the rifle in carbine family with a 14.5" barrel. The M4 variant also came off the assembly line with a collapsible stock while the 16 came with a fixed butt stock.

Both have similar max effective range with the 16 being 550m and the m4 500m, and there are some differences in muzzle velocity as well that I can't remember off the top of my head.

BC for you to own a rifle under 16" as a civilian you need a federal permit, so for commercial purposes they make a 16" variant to make money.

Yeah you can, you just gotta pay the $$ for the permit, I think its $200. Thats how guys are making 9" 300 black out CQB rifles and what not.

FWIW, as long as the overall barrel length is 16", your "barrel" can be as long a you want.

For example, there are guys running 11.5" barrels with a 5.5" flash hider that is permanently attached. Total barrel length is 16"

I run a 14.5" barrel with a permanently attached flash hider for a total length of 16". Its perfectly legal with no tax stamp.

Yes, the most popular class 3 tax stamp is $200.

Yeah I'm aware, but a 5.5" flash hider is just ignorant and serves no purpose other than making a 10.5" barrel legal.

I get your point and I guess I should have stated that info in my OP.

No, but on their website it says to give them 10-15 days for shipping of in-stock items.
