Long story short. I pretty sure my wife's drug addict cousin is going to try to break into my house within the next week. What should I grab first for home defense? I have the following at the ready under 10 seconds:

A) Rock River AR w/ 3 or 4 thirty round mags (banana clips)
B) Glock 21 .45 w/ 2 thirteen round mags hollow points
C) Spingfield 1911 .45 w/ 2 full mags
D) Wife's pepper spray

I should probably state that neither my wife or I have any emotional attachment to this guy and he will probably have a cheap 38 on him.

Well first I would notify authorities if you're serious.

Second, I would pick a Remington 870 with 00 Buck before any of those.

If you have legit information that he will be attempting a b&e, contact your local authorities first.

If they can't help I'd rather have a shotgun at my side than a side arm for when someone attempts to break into my home.

If that is not an option either pistol you listed will get the job done.

As for the AR; I wouldn't want to use that in the home as the .223 can over-penetrate and go through multiple interior walls and hurt some one that you didn't intend to harm.

I would not be advertising my intentions of gunning down my cousin in law on the World Wide Web

If you've already got the cops involved, I'd say the glock. Give the old lady the 1911.

As a rule pistols are for fighting your way to a long gun. Since you already have a long gun, there you go.

Reminds me of a problem we had with my sis-in-law's boyfriend that threatened to kill all of us. He was a drunk with a big mouth and had had a fight with sis-in-law. She called to warn us. My wife got upset so we went down to the sheriff's office and I told a detective what happened. I also told them they had better catch him before he pulled into my yard, because he wasn't going to get out of the truck in one piece.
The guy said to be careful and they would try to find him. He never showed up.

I was referring to the aftermath of him shooting the guy and the prosecutors comb through his life with a fine tooth comb and see where he was planning on shooting him.

I hope your aren't serious. But if so I suggest a different course of action and also allow me to pre-label this thread for you:

I have found a strongly-worded insult disarms any tense situation.

If that doesn't work I shoot them with my 870 until they stop bleeding.

So if someone who happens to be a convicted felon, known for aggravated robbery, who is wanted by the Feds breaks into my house while armed and I shoot him I will be prosecuted? And they will find a random post on an anonymous web board from a phone that isn't mine linked to a throw away email?
I'm fricked
