Why in the world would anyone root for these teams?

New York Yankees
Notre Dame football
Duke basketball
Los Angeles Lakers
Dallas Cowboys
I could justify a fan rooting for any other sports team but these five...
What makes one get up in the morning and think "man i can't wait to root for a baseball team that tries to outspend every single team and steal all their free agents every offseason, completely destroying competitive balance of the entire league in the process?"
or a racist basketball program with a holier than thou attitude and the most vomit-inducing presence in college sports?
or the football program that continues to live in the past with its TV deal that alienates an entire sport?
or the basketball team with a ball hog rapist guard that calls out his teammates and more than one player that gets coaches they don't like fired?
or the football team run by a colossally stupid billionaire who tries to shove "tradition" down the entire league's throat and then whines and moans when his team fails even though he's the moron making every single decision?

Duke Basketball I can see because Coach K runs a clean program, graduates all his players and never has off the court issues.

Did the Yankees even offer Pujols? They didn't go after Hamilton.
Hal is not his father, and this is a going to be a different era for the Yankees.
As far as Notre Dame goes, shouldn't you be blaming NBC? What school wouldn't take Notre Dame's current deal?
Lakers... I think Kobe has earned the right to speak out about his teammates. Especially this year, when he's consistently the only guy who shows up.
Duke... I don't get the racism comment. They have plenty of black players and their graduation rate is great. I don't see a problem.
I don't like a number of these teams, but that doesn't mean I don't see why other people couldn't like them.

Duke is not racist. Coach K just likes REALLY smart players. Rasheed Sulaimon, one of the black players in the picture (#14), was a freshman at my high school when I was a senior. Smart kid who made all As his freshman year (and probably most or all of high school) . Very different case than the majority of good basketball players at the school. Coach K doesn't like to deal with discipline problems, so he recruits kids that won't be. He also like smart players to grasp his offense. Talented players who meet these credentials often times turn out to be white. It doesn't make Duke or Coach K racist.

Couldn't have said it better myself
I am OK with Duke being successful because they do things right. It's why I hated when Kentucky won the basketball title last season, because Calipari does everything the wrong way. He cheats, he lies, he doesn't graduate his players, has off the court problems, etc.
I always cheer for the 15 seed in the NCAA tournament no matter who is playing, but I wasn't overjoyed when Duke lost to Lehigh. Would have rather it have happened to a more slimeball of a program or coach.

What? Of all the things you could pick about the Cowboys you decided to make something up about tradition? And as inept at Jones may be when it comes to putting together a roster, he is not stupid. Now I feel dirty for defending Jerry Jones. Thanks.
