Thought I'd join in with sharing the newness of the old, as I finally took my dad's advice and watched this golf movie with Kevin Costner and Rene Russo. I liked the beginning more than the end, but read some spoilers afterwards which told me most of the scenes were based on true events, so I guess if it can happen in real life, it can happen in a Costner movie,

Not sure about this being a true story, but it is one of the best golf movies ever made and I could watch it 3 times a week and be happy.

parts of it happened. the bar/pelican scene and the last scene with the 12-over, both of those happened to Gary McCord, who actually was in the movie as an announcer. This is according to IMDB, I don't know McCord personally, ha
ETA: What impressed me is how real it looked. all the stands and crowds and media presence. I wonder which tournament they filmed it at, it had to have been done that way to use all the players/sets they used.

It captures the west Texas golf culture pretty well.

It's one of my favorite movies. I did for a span of a few months watch it about every night. I lived in someones house 10 years ago and all they had was a vhs in the room I stayed in. I rotated out Tin Cup and The Replacements pretty routinely for something to fall asleep to.

I call this the best "chick flick" I have ever seen.
