the possibility of who we could lose is almost disheartening. to once again lose our best interior DL and our best cover corner and safety along with our top 3 defensive ends and our best LB is gonna make it damn tough to win the SEC.

it looks like our O will improve greatly and we should score many more points to help out the remaining babies on the D.

man, these guys returning (most of them anyway) would put us squarely as a NC contender.

As long as chavis is here im not overly concerned w the D. We will just reload. And i dont think its likely logan, simon, or minter are going anywhere.

Logan probably isn't going pro.

Ditto for Simon.

And Minter.

Why do you assume these three guys will go? Reid, Montgomery, and probably Mingo are gone. The rest are coming back.

The only unit I'd be concerned about is the DLine with the inexperience and depth. The LB core and secondary will both be top notch

Bennie Logan is not our best interior DL.

Tharold Simon is not our best cover corner.

Given that only 1 out of 7 players you reference is a senior, we aren't going to lose them all. That very rarely happens where every draft eligible junior leaves.

Not exactly "babies". Barrow, Alexander, Mills, Collins, Loston, Martin, Eugene, Ferguson, Tahj Jones, and Rasco, had plenty of playing time this year

Rasco and Hunter will man the DE spots. They are big and athletic and will fly to the ball. The interior line will be awesome. Nobody will run against our D next year.

The linebackers and secondary will go from weakness to strength, as all the youngsters we played this year will have more experience.

True, we will miss having an elite safety like Reid. The staff is currently searching for another player like him. Jeremy Cutrer could be that guy. Alternatively, look for a converted corner to step up.

Considering we brought in 3 corners last class (Thomas, Raymond, Holmes) and we are bringing in 4 (or more) this class (White, Jefferson, Brazil, Robinson), I would expect one or more to switch to S. Thomas, Jefferson, and Robinson are all good candidates. Each has a rangy frame and could add some bulk.

I guess it just seems like people would realize after however many years that it just doesn't happen (every possible player leaving early).

I am actually really excited about our chances next year. The offense is going to be awesome, especially if WRs Leslie or Gardner can come in and make an impact by stretching the field (something we missed this year).

The D will be fine. We played more freshman on D than any team in recent memory. Those guys had to grow up fast this year and they will be much better in game 1 2013 than game 1 2012.

much more importantly is that Mett and the OL will be SO much better Game 1 in 2013.

I know you said the offense will be awesome, but it just needs reiterating how improved the O should look in 2013 compared to 2012 Game 1.

I just can't ever get concerned about the defense at LSU...too many play makers and good coaching to be "bad".
