Rangers will still finish with a better record than them again anyway.
Even as a Rangers fan that is a joke

I don't think anyone would pick tori hunter over Hamilton. I don't care what his war is.
What was Hunter's WAR the previous years? (2.7 in 2010, 3.4 in 2011) Ill save you the trouble, last year was the highest of his career. He had a resurgent year and will play 2013 at age 37. You can't expect duplicate numbers. Lets also keep in mind he played RF all last year, while Hamilton went b/t CF and LF.
Not to mention he is 5 years older. Of course someone is going to pay Hamilton more. And if Hamilton doesn't have to play CF which he wouldn't have to in LAA, better for him.

I have predicted on this board that the Rangers would not resign him for several reasons: 1) They didn't want to go over budget, 2) He's on the wrong side of 30 with past drug abuse and a history of bizarre injuries and 3) The way last season ended with him not hustle/caring and being out for an extended period of time with weird injuries.
I'm not saying this is a positive for the 2013 Rangers. But it is a long-term positive for the team.

The Angels and Dodgers should agree to save some money and bail out the state of California

Agree with everything you just said.
It's going to be a long year for the Rangers

This doesn't make you some MLB genius with insight. This is what everybody has been saying for two years

Rangers are having a dismal offseason. They've now whiffed on Upton and Hamilton, lost Napoli, and lost out on both aces Greinke and Shields.
This is a team afraid to make a bad move, so they don't make any. They've lost a ton of production at the plate, and still need another starter. And now they're picking through the leftovers (ok, Anibel Sanchez is a nice consolation prize, but now you have to sign him).

Do the Rangers go after Swisher now?

Wholeheartedly disagree. We will see how it bears itself out.

Never said I was. Just an observation.
When he plays 90-100 games for the LAA this year, I will be telling people on this board that it was a great move to abstain.

Don't be so pessimistic. The offseason isn't over for the Rangers and even without Hamilton, the offense is still formiable. Besides Weaver, their starting staff hardly makes me shake in my boots.
We owned CJ Wilson last year. Tommy Hanson has injury/velocity concerns and then there's Joe Blanton.

I think they will go after Bourn and maybe someone else. They will try to get a starter.
We shall see.

Jesus. That would make things worse. Might as well go all in on Olt and Profar, shift Kinsler to CF, and talk to the Royals about giving you Billy Butler or Eric Hosmer.

I know. This is a huge hit to their lineup and they are playing it off like its no big deal. You are losing your best hitter from your team in which you've had the best run in decades, and you are brushing it off because the last thing you remember is his bad postseason? Even worse he is going to a divison rival.
They desperately need to trade a prospect for a bat. Do they honestly expect to lean on Beltre & Cruz to drive in runs? Olt & Profar better be ready.
Who do they think they are to think they can weather this "as is"?

Have you seen their pitching staff? It's not really that great. Just saying. Maybe they can mash, but is Pujols going to stay healthy? Is Hamilton going to stay healthy? Are they going to have to trade Trumbo to get pitching? These are all questions that need to be answered as the season goes along.

Very interested to see what JD does next to fill the void.
As far as CF that's the easy part. Gentry and/or Martin can play the position (Gentry was often a late-inning defensive replacement with Josh going to LF and Murphy coming out, and Martin is considered the CF of the future).
The offensive production part will be a problem and there isn't anyone available anyway, so JD can't do much here.

Kinsler to CF,
I've seen this statement all over the place and completely disagree.
He's not athletic enough to play center. He just isn't.
