K so we do an adopt a family at my work (Ascension parish business). Well the one I got is an 11 year old young lady interested in softball. Anyone on The Rant have softball connections? Would love to get this little girl some amazing stuff. Any help (connections or recommendations) would be awesome.
You can either post them or if it is better my email is captainj47@yahoo.com

Send an email to Quinlan Duhon. She is the director of operations for the softball team and one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Her email address is quinlan@lsu.edu
I guarantee that she can help you.

Thanks yeah Quinlan has been great- she is sending me some posters. Sounded like compliance kind of blocked her from doing more. Didn't know if anyone on the board knew of a work around or was close to a current/past team member who could lend a hand. I figured if anywhere could help it would be The Rant.

This. It would be awesome for the girl to tour the softball facilities.

Great idea duckie never asked Quinlan about that.

That was going to be my suggestion.

Also obviously has any more specific questions I can't put my work address on here but can fill in any questions folks may have. Quinlan suggested the winter softball camp- anyone know how this is?

This is the part that sucks. Once the girl becomes a certain age, she becomes a "recruitable athlete" and any gifts like balls, bats, etc. could be deemed "impermissible benefits". Ah ya gotta love the NCAA. Dale Brown was right.....

Yeah I know. Was hoping as a former collegiate athlete I am out if eligibility and they could be given to me. Then if I pass along would be ok. Oh well- not gonna give up.

Day they step foot in high school.

Wait this girl is 11 and not in high school. Rule still apply?

I am out for now but will bump this in the AM for the day crew. Thanks in advance.

11 and loves softball...Send her (or take her if she is underpriveleged) to an LSU camp. I'm sure you're doing it through a church or somehting - I can't believe that would ever be a violation. We went down for a couple camps and the experience was priceless.

She is not yet a recruitable athlete.
Men's basketball and football have their own rules. In softball she's not yet a recruitable athlete to the best of my understanding. (unless this rule changed)

I would facebook some former players like Morgan Russell or Kristen Shortridge. They may have some thing to donate and it would not be any kind of violation.

Thank y'all so much for the emails and ideas. I know we will collectively brighten this child's Christmas.
